Victim advocates provide a valuable service for the community by assisting victims and protecting their rights. In addition to needed emotional sup- port and crisis intervention, advocates offer information about the criminal jus- tice system and the resources available to the victim. Advocates often act as a liaison between the victim and the of- ficers investigating an incident. Services are provided to victims 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Advocates are asked to work four to six 12-hour shifts per month and attend a meeting each month. Volunteers must be at least 21 years of age, complete 40-50 hours of training and successfully complete the application process which includes a criminal history check and a background investigation. We are looking for individuals with any of the following experience: water rescue, dive rescue, commercial divers, military divers, recreational SCUBA, EMT, paramedic, law enforcement, or sim- ply people with a big heart for helping people in their time of need. Larimer County Dive Rescue is a volunteer rescue organization dedicated to providing emergency water services for the citizens of Larimer County — and state wide upon request.
