RESTORATION CHALLENGES
• Complexity of regulatory permitting • Habitat/species trade-offs • State contracting and procurement • Funding of non-Biological Opinion projects • Incorporation of science
6/20/2016
ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT
• Delta Independent Science Board recommends an Adaptive Management program for the Delta
• How well do habitat projects improve the environment? • Adaptive Management Cycle: Monitoring – Synthesis –
Decisions – Monitoring – etc. • Many well established monitoring programs exist • EcoRestore Adaptive Management is only for Ecosystem
Restoration projects in the Delta and Suisun Marsh

ADAPTIVE MANAGEMENT
• Need to Develop Institutional and Financial Structure for Ecosystem Adaptive Management
• Formation of Steering Committee and Technical Committee (IAMIT)
• Recommendation on Adaptive Management Program in 9 months from IAMIT
• Steering Committee to recommend structure and financing
6/20/2016
RESTORATION PROJECT PLANNING
• Delta Conservancy assigned to develop restoration plans for regions of the Delta
• Suisun Marsh Habitat, Management, Preservation and Restoration Plan already exists
