GLC 2013: Crisis, Cooperation, and Change within the Global Landscape

Globalization has two faces. The pleasant one has created opportunities and prospects for prosperity and the tragic one has created crisis and disaster. In the 21st century world, people find themselves dealing with crisis of one type or another. As the world deals with financial, economic, environmental, political and ethical challenges people struggle for survival, search for sustainable solutions and hope for growth and development. It is important to remember that even though each situation is different, there is a human face to all of these crisis situations. Solutions lie in cooperation across national borders, disciplinary boundaries, and cultural scope. We need an interdisciplinary discussion for positive change.

Global Landscapes Conference 2013: Crisis, Cooperation, and Change, will assemble scholars, educators, students, and community members who are interested in examining economic, political, social and environmental crises and recognize the need for cooperation among different constituents to find sustainable solutions amid a changing social, cultural, political, economic, financial environment.

The King’s Global Landscapes Conference is supported by the McGowan School of Business, the McGowan Center for Ethics and Social Responsibility, NEPA Alliance and NEPIRC (Northeastern Pennsylvania Industrial Resource Center). The objective of this interdisciplinary conference is to promote discussion of the crisis, cooperation and change within a global landscape across academic curricula and business practice. Disciplinary and interdisciplinary papers and panels on these topics are welcome. The undergraduate student research presentations are sponsored by The International Business Honor Society, Epsilon Chi Omicron, King’s College Chapter and the Alpha-Mu Chapter of Omicron Delta Epsilon, the International Honor Society in Economics.
