TECHNOLOGY AS A TOOL
Benefits of Technology: Lends us opportunities to integrate skills Gives us access to authentic resources Fosters communication and collaboration Extends our English lessons outside of the
classroom May foster enthusiasm – Learning should be fun Gives us multi-modal learning opportunities Provides more opportunities for one-to-one
feedback Lends us opportunities for self-paced learning Facilitates a “greener” approach
OBJECTIVES
By the end of these five workshops, teachers will be able to
differentiate between several broad categories of instructional technologies and compare their uses,
evaluate uses of instructional technology in the language classroom,
demonstrate the appropriate use of instructional technology to meet specific language teaching objectives,
design and teach a micro-lesson using instructional technology as a tool to reach lesson objectives, and
develop strategies for staying up-to-date with changing technologies
