Dear Friends of St. Ambrose Catholic School,

Thanks to each of you for being part of the St. Ambrose family and attending this year’s Gala, Call of the Wild! The energy and enthusiasm of this group has truly been amazing and we thank them for everything they have done. Special thanks to our Gala co-chairs Beth Culver and Kim Evans for their outstanding work in making tonight happen. We would also like to thank our sponsors, underwriters, families, and friends who have contributed to the success of tonight’s event.

Tonight, the administration and School Board are proud to honor our special guests, Sister Donna Pollard, O.P. and Sister Jane Meyer, O.P. It is with pride and gratitude that we honor two women who have been valuable supporters of Catholic education in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese, Sister Donna Pollard Head of St. Pius X High School and Sister Jane Meyer, Head of St. Agnes Academy. They have been instrumental in shaping students rooted in the Dominican pillars of prayer, study, community and preaching. We thank them for their years of service and are delighted to present them with our third annual Te Deum Laudamus Award.

A strong belief in a Catholic education and the determination of Rev. Victor DiPremio and St. Ambrose parishioners resulted in the establishment of St. Ambrose School in 1960. For more than fifty years St. Ambrose has served students in the near northwest area of Houston. With your continued support and help we look forward to another fifty years!

Enjoy yourself this evening and know that everything we are doing tonight is on behalf of the children of St. Ambrose Catholic School. May we continue to work together in our mission of educating the mind, heart, and spirit of each child.

May God’s blessings be with you.

Volunteer Prayer“I thank Thee, Lord as a volunteer

For the chance to serve another year. And to give of myself in some small way,

To those not blessed as I each day.

My thanks for health and mind and soul,To aid me ever toward my goal. For eyes to see the good in all,A hand to extend before a fall.

For legs to go where the need is great,Learning to love-forgetting to hate. For ears to hear and heart to care,

When someone’s cross is hard to bear.A smile to show my affection true,With energy aplenty-the task to do.

And all I ask, dear Lord, if I may,Is to serve you better day by day.”

Thank you to all of our volunteers, for their time

and their talents, which made this evening possible.

Welcome to our 2013 Gala, Call of the Wild! While we are all here to enjoy the beauty and excitement of the evening, we want to make sure the spotlight shines on our goal of raising money in support of St. Ambrose Catholic School. We sincerely hope that you will take advantage of the many opportunities to do so tonight, while you also appreciate what we have within the St. Ambrose community.

We are very honored to be able to recognize Sister Jane Meyer, O.P. and Sister Donna Pollard, O.P, for their decades of commitment to Catholic education. Together with the many alumni and parents of current students and alumni of St. Agnes Academy and St. Pius X with us tonight, we thank you for accepting our invitation to share this event with us. It is with great respect and admiration that we honor you this evening with the Te Deum Laudamus Award, named for St. Ambrose.

We would also like to thank our Honorary Chairs, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Campos and Mr. and Mrs. Stan Jankowski, for their support in making this evening a success. Your history and experiences with St. Agnes Academy and St. Pius X High School are very fitting and have been tremendously beneficial in our preparations for tonight. We admire and thank you for your continued and demonstrated support of St. Ambrose Catholic School.

Lastly, but certainly not least, we would like to thank the many who have shared their time and their talents over the past year making this evening a huge success. It takes so many people to make this event possible. We are equally grateful to those who have donated gifts, both in-kind and monetary, providing us so many wonderful items in our auctions.

It has been our privilege and honor to have served as co-chairs of this event for the past three years and watch it continue to evolve and progress. The parents, students, faculty and staff of St. Ambrose are incredible, and we are truly blessed to serve alongside you in this adventure! We are very appreciative of your commitment to achieving our goals.

Please enjoy the company of good friends, delicious dinner and wonderful music and partake in the bidding of our incredible items. As you enjoy the evening, please know that you are making a positive impact on the lives of every student that attends St. Ambrose Catholic School and for that we are very grateful.

The uniqueness of each student is embraced in a safe, loving, and caring environment. Our students are prepared to meet and respond to the opportunities and challenges of the future as responsible, Chris-tian members of society.”

SAS is a fully accredited Catholic school in the Galveston-Houston Archdiocese servicing children in Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade. The remarkable, talented staff of St. Ambrose Catholic School challenges and encourages a diversified body of learners. Faculty and staff continually strive for the advancement, safety, and well-being of each and every child. They choose to be teachers in a Catholic school because they consider their profession to be a mission and not just a job.

There is a strenuous academic program in place at St. Ambrose Catholic School. All classes partake in Spanish, Computer, and Guidance classes in addition to solid core subjects. St. Ambrose Catholic School has a vigorous physical education and athletic program available to the students. All grade levels participate in Physical Education classes three times a week. Extra-curricu-lar offerings include a Fitness Club, football, volleyball, basketball, baseball, softball, track, cheerlead-ing and dance. An extremely strong Catholic identity is present at St. Ambrose Catholic School. All classes celebrate Mass together as a school family every Wednesday morning and every day begins with a school-wide prayer led by the students. Religion is taught daily and the students themselves serve as choir, lectors, gift-bearers, and altar servers in the weekly Mass. The Sacrament of Reconciliation is offered to the student body during both Advent and Lent. The school supports the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry through weekly donations and special Thanksgiving offerings. During the Christmas season St. Ambrose School helps to brighten the lives of a number of families through donations of clothing, food, toys, toiletries, and various sundry items.

The continued generosity of so many in our Archdiocesan community has enabled us to provide indoor and outdoor facilities that are updated and beautiful. Our continued vision for St. Ambrose Catholic School encompasses new facilities to house a new Library, Science Lab and Fine Arts Room in keeping with our mission of educating the whole child.
