January 5, 2018 Projects

Sheep-Larry Henneke will be leading this project countywide and has

offered scholarships to help with this project. Below is more details from Larry

and the scholarship application is attached at the end of the newsletter.

Henneke Club Lamb Scholarship

Sheep production plays a vital role in the US economy. After attending

the Callaway Youth Expo I realized that lambs were not very well repre-

sented at the event. My family has been involved in raising and showing

market lambs for the past 17 years. My own children were active 4-H and

FFA members and showed at the county fair and State fair levels. Being a

past Agriculture Education Instructor and FFA advisor I see the value of

exhibiting livestock. My passion for agriculture and ambitions to help

FFA/4-H members who might not otherwise have the opportunity to raise

livestock has prompted my family to offer a lamb to a deserving member.

Our farm is located near Millersburg. We have 35 Hamp/Suffolk cross

ewes. We have sold lambs all over mid Missouri and have had numerous

fair winners and FFA/4-H member successes. Perhaps the best reward is

producing a quality animal for exhibition. I will also help the recipient clip

the lamb for the Fair and offer feeding and showing advise if necessary. If

you are interested in the scholarship, complete the following application

by February 1. Mail application to Larry Henneke, 4440 County Road 257,

Fulton, MO 65251. The recipient will be notified by March 1.
