The Pearl – Qatar is a new 14 million-square-foot, $2.5 billion
island community off the coast of Doha, Qatar. Both a community
and a tourist destination, The Pearl is the result of increased efforts
to diversify the country’s economy. Built on a former pearl diving
site, its name pays tribute to its strong historical and cultural ties
to the sea. The exclusive island retreat will eventually house more
than 40,000 residents in an upscale, multi-cultural community. The
four-phase development comprises 10 distinct districts including
beachfront villas, elegant townhomes, luxury apartments, five-star
hotels, marinas, retail and restaurant offerings.

As the first phase of The Pearl – Qatar, a $2.5 billion island
community, Porto Arabia provides a premier living environment.
Designed as the Riviera of the Middle East, Porto Arabia features
a waterfront boardwalk with retail and restaurants, multi-family
residential housing and entertainment activities. In order to meet an
aggressive timeline, Callison developed and delivered an extremely
fast-track schedule, completing all design phases in 18 months. In
the three years since completion of the design, the development’s
value has increased 85 percent.

space in the greater Cairo region, Callison’s master plan for Sorouh
City features a variety of apartments and townhouses and a Class
A business campus. A park-like setting in concert with retail,
dining and entertainment spaces are carefully planned to maximize
adjacencies and provide a sophisticated level of amenities for the
middle-class population. As the community’s “front door,” a lake
front pedestrian promenade further enhances the development’s

Callison’s conceptual master plan for Marsa Zayed, a $10
billion marina community that is the largest real estate project
in Jordan’s history, maximizes frontage on the Gulf of Aqaba
to create a vibrant mixed-use community. Part of the Jordanian
government’s initiative to double its tourism economy by 2010,
Marsa Zayed is designed to help fuel the country’s growth by
providing more than 300 yacht berths in a luxury marina, a
cruise ship terminal and a mix of hotels, apartments, villas and
townhouses for more than 50,000 people.

the need for a luxury destination. Rising above a waterfront
boardwalk and canal system, high-rise residential towers,

Middle East Mixed-Use Project
Guided by the principles of “connection, contrast and complement,”
this community is the fi rst fully mixed-use waterfront district in its
area. Contemporary designs help to enhance the port as a gateway
to the city and position the community on the world stage. Low-rise

CHENNAI MASTER PLAN
Encompassing group housing, villas, golf course and an
equestrian facility, this 370-acre master plan is inspired by a
garden of delight. An intertwining street pattern, emphasized
by vibrantly colored trees and plants, increases the park-like
atmosphere. Solar-powered cooling, rainwater collection
and natural ventilation promote energy effi ciency custom to
Chennai’s humid climate.

Teeing up an international destination
Anchoring three dozen 18-hole golf courses, this town center
is the shopping and entertainment center for a 100 million
square foot master planned community. The fi rst of the
development’s three town centers, its outdoor-oriented design
complements the surrounding tropical climate. Meandering
streets inspired by hillside villages, a man-made lagoon and
nearly one million square feet of pedestrian retail combine to
