Cambium Connecting U
Brad Schubert Multimedia Instructional Designer
Cambium College is now Connecting U
Have you ever wanted to create your own fixed wireless solutions or understand how information flows through our wireless world?
Cambium Networks Connecting U is the program that will unwrap those mysteries through knowledge.
Setting Expectations
The overall objective of Connecting U is to provide you with courses that cover key concepts of Point-to-Point backhaul technology and a roadmap to how a Wi-Fi Network is created going backwards from your device out to the access point and beyond.
What can you expect to learn in taking the time to complete Connecting U?
Key Learning Objectives
• You will be able to define several key concepts of Wi-Fi Networking such as:
• Channels• Frequency• Interference• IP Address• Capacity
• You will be able to perform a basic site survey.
• You will be able to deploy PTP and PMP deployments and be able to tell the difference between the two.
Target Audience
These courses are targeted for students, installers, network operators, and people who work in or are interested in communications technology from ages 14-95.
Essentially, everyone is welcome to join in.
New Content and Interactions
New to this year is that courses will be presented in several microlearning formats. No more 60-min recorded Webinars. We have created new short videos, updated self-paced online learning, shorter pre-recorded webinars, a few assignments and an optional “hands-on” lab
Updated Self-Paced Online Learning
Self-paced learning will allow you to go through the content at your own pace and on your own time, not having to rely on scheduled webinars or classroom environments that could interfere with your schedule.
Several courses in this program have received an update to the content and will still be a good refresher course for experienced users.
New Exclusive Cambium U Webinars
A new element we are adding to this program later this year will be exclusive Cambium U Webinars. These webinars will feature content will be only available to those who are enrolled and have completed the Connecting U coursework.
Assignment Tasks
The Assignments in this course get you away from the computer and give you an opportunity to go out and explore. Two of the easiest assignments can almost be done from your home or backyard. Lets Complete the demo for locating a radio tower.
Cambium Learning and Connecting U
Introducing the users to the community was an important feature we wanted to stress with this relaunch, so we have incorporated several tasks that use Cambium Community inside the courses.
Incorporating the use of Cambium Community
Connecting U works hand in hand with the Cambium Networks Community.
• 25,000 members from around the world• Multiple languages• Detailed information on each
technology• Share experiences and best practices
Your own “Hands-on” Lab
There is an optional kit purchase (Bridge-in-a-box) available through your local Cambium Distributor or online through Amazon.com. Using this kit, you will be able to build a communications network that can be cloud managed to ensure performance.
Gamification and Badges
Cambium Networks new Learning Management System allows us to add and use gamification in our learning paths with the use of badges. There are a total of 10 badges that can be earned while taking this course. Some examples of badges you can earn include:
• Finishing your 1st course• Finishing each of 4 sections• Completing each of the assignment tasks• Communicating with others in the Community
