Education Open Morning Fun Thank you to parents, caregivers, grandparents and friends of Camden PS, who joined us last Thursday for Education Week Open Morning. Congratulations to the School Band, Primary Dance Group, Stage One Dance Group and the Choir who provided great performances at the assembly, along with Joshua (5/6P) who presented a fantastic speech. It was wonderful to see everyone enjoying each other’s company as they walked around the school to view the amazing sculptures and get their passport stamped! Mayor for the Day On Friday 2 August, Joshua (5/6P) represented the school at the ‘Mayor for the Day’ speaking competition. Joshua represented his school extremely well and demonstrated a fantastic knowledge of local government, knowledge of Camden and described some excellent ideas that could make Camden an even better place to live.

As part of the competition, Joshua will be ‘Principal for the Day’ on Monday 19 August.

3/4B are dismayed and disappointed as they, along with many other classes cleaned the school once more of a LOT of plastic. We had only been back after the holidays for a little more than a week and already we found a GREAT amount of rubbish- most of it being plastic-in the space of about 10 mins.

We are not sure what to do next to stop students from dropping their plastic and therefore allowing it to be blown into drains, which of course takes it to our rivers and oceans, killing sea-life. We've already mentioned that we have found birds nests with tiny pieces of plastic in them, so the birds are also being affected.

We are happy to see students using our 'return and earn' containers, but more has to be done.

Please try as much as you can, to bring recess and lunch items that aren't wrapped in plastic.

The class will continue to try to come up with more solutions, but if anyone else has ideas, please let us know.

We are very frustrated and keep finding more and more plastic when we are playing in the playground. We don't think it's too hard to throw it in the bin!

Stewart House Clothing Appeal Stewart House are holding a clothing appeal during August. Students received a Stewart House plastic bag today. Please fill with any unwanted good, clean, wearable clothing, shoes, manchester or blankets. Please return the filled bags to school by Friday 30 August, as Stewart House will be collecting them on Monday 2 September. If you require further bags, they can be collected from the school office. Thanking you for your support with the appeal.

Community Art On Monday, the children in 5/6L had the opportunity to design and paint the panels that are displayed on the hitching posts at the front of the Albert Baker Art Gallery in Camden. They will go on display on the 17 August for a couple of months. The children had a great time and came up with very clever designs.

Join Our Team for the Camden Community Fun Run Camden Public School have registered a team to take part in this year’s Macarthur Lions Club Camden Community Fun Run. The run will be held on Sunday 8 September, 9.15am at Bicentennial Equestrian Park, Camden. The course is 5km and you can run, walk, hop, skip or jump your way to the finish line. It will be a fun family event with stalls, a jumping castle and BBQ. Money raised from the event goes to support Lifeline Macarthur.
