It has been one of those years so far. Thanks to the careful budgeting in Camelot Gardens and our funds carryover, we are able to take care of the emergency expenses as they come up in addition to the day to day operations. Let me just name a few recefrom the electric box to the maintenance blew out. It took 6 months for FPL and the city to get this repaired to the tune of $7000. A week later the main electric box to the pool and the heaters blew up and cost $2000 to re$800 to replace. We have had above ground water pipes/meters begin to leak (bldg 19 & bldg 28). We are getting old. The City is making repairs as needed and will be installing new pipeand meters over the summer. There will be times your building may be without water. I am sorry for the inconvenience. We will get installation dates from the water company in advance (if available) and notify the affected owners. I want to welcoplease review the Rules & Regulations every now and then. One of the largest oversights is the rules pertaining to animals. The most violated is picking up poop after your dog. Nstep in your dog’s poop nor do they want their dog getting into the poop. This is a huge health

issue for humans and dogs. Their have been cats running free around Camelot. These cats will be picked up by Society or Animal Control. Birds are beautiful, however the caged ones on your porch and scream all day not! Please bring any noisy, barking or screaming animal inside. Hurricane season is here. When a storm is predicted for our area, bring any item that can become airborne into your unit. We will then need some residents to help bring in the pool furniture and look around the property for anything not attached. you need help with your hurricane shutters, please let maintenance know so we can try to get someone to help you. If you aregoing to stay here in Camelot Gardens during a bad storm, call the Guard House and leave your name and unit number prior to the storm hitting and we lose power. Someone will come to check on you when the storm clears. After the storm our Security will be on site and close the front entrance. No one will be allowed in with the exception of residents. If you have someoncoming onto the property you must notify the Guard House and confirm that the front entrance is open (it will be closed for as long as needed dependent on damage). All units will be checked from the outside. If there is damage or debris outside youunit DO NOT pick it up. We will have a crew in to remove everything ASAP. Why Shower Before the Pool? Most people have seen the signs as you enter a swimming pool, stating that local code requires all swimmers to shower BEFORE entering the swimming pool. By showering before swimming, you are helping keep the swimming pool water clean, and reducing the spread of illness to others. Here are the reasons why: Reason #1: Showering reduces the spread of Recreational Water Illnesses. Most RWIs are spread through fecal matter. Chances are, on any given day, you have trace amounts of fecal matter on your body. Even at the highest acceptable chlorine level, it would still take about a week to kill all of the germs and bacteria found in fecal matter. Reason #2: Deodorants, soaps, moisturizers, perfumes, sweat, detergents, all have organic compounds that contain proteins in them. When mixed with chlorinated water, disinfectant by-products are created. This creates the chlorine smell that you may notice around a swimming pool. That smell is an indicator of mixed chemicals. A well-managed swimming facility should have little to no chlorine odor. Reason #3: It reduces operating costs. You may not think this impacts you, but if operating costs skyrocket, chances are the cost of our annual pool contract will increase. When you don’t shower, more chlorine is needed to keep the water clean. The more chlorine that a pool uses, the more pH lowering chemical we have to use. Chlorine is high in pH, so we have to use an acid to bring the pH level down to a comfortable level. Both of these chemicals are expensive.. Thanks for helping us keep safe, healthy and or costs at a minimum. Showering before and after the pool is a win-win all around!

Scheduled Clubhouse Activities Men’s Card Night ~ Every Tuesday evening at the clubhouse, 7 – 10 pm. Residents are invited to play five/ten cent poker. If you are a novice or a seasoned player, come over and join in the fun. Women’s Crafts ~ Wednesday 9:30 am – 11:30 am in the clubhouse. Residents are invited to get together for sewing, knitting, crocheting and a lot of other crafts. This is a good way to spend a pleasant morning, share crafts with each other or learn a new craft.

Hurricane Preparedness The most important thing you can do as hurricane season is here, is to get yourself, your family and your home prepared. By starting early, you’ll avoid the rush at home supply stores, grocery stores and other venues typically crowded and often chaotic when hurricane watches and warnings are issued. You should stock six basics for your home: water, food, first aid supplies, clothing and bedding, tools and emergency supplies, and special items. Ingredients 2 lbs. chicken tenders 1 packed cup brown Sugar 1 cup ketchup 1/4 cup red wine vinegar 1/4 cup water ¼ heaping cup pure maple syrup meaning a little over ¼ cup 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce 2 teaspoons ground mustard 2 teaspoons Paprika 1-1/2 teaspoons kosher salt 1 teaspoon black pepper Marinade:

1. Mix brown sugar, ketchup, red wine vinegar, water, pure maple syrup, worcestershire sauce, ground mustard, paprika, kosher salt and pepper in a large bowl. Place chicken tenders in the marinade. Cover and let the chicken marinate for at least 2-4 hours or overnight. Zip[loc bag works great.

2. I completely soak my skewers for 30 minutes. Make sure the entire stick is completely in water. Once they have soaked, remove and start to assemble the skewers.

Kabobs: 3. Grab a tender and lace through the skewer. I start at the chunkier end and do a weave motion.

Or you can just slide the entire tender on the kabob and not make it all fancy like a wave. Set kabob on a plate and repeat the process. Once completed drizzle extra marinade over the chicken, and let it sit while grill is heating up.

4. Heat grill. Place chicken on grill over medium heat. Cover grill and cook 3 minutes, then turn over the kabob and cook another 3 minutes. At this point check the chicken. To know if the chicken is done the juices should be clear and the center of thickest part is cut (170°F). If not done, continue to cook, at this point I leave the lid open and just turn the kabobs so they are cooked evenly on both sides. My chicken takes about 8-10 minutes.

5. Remove from grill and serve immediately. Or cover with foil and serve later.
