CAMPCHINA AUSTRALIAMILLENNIAL PROJECT

CHINA AUSTRALIA MILLENNIAL PROJECTMEET YOUR 200 FUTURE ALLIES, 2 COUNTRIES, 1 CITY

A transformative journey to immerse you into a new culture and learn the skills of being a changemakerLooking for 200 Young Innovators in 2015 We are on the search for 100 young innovators from China and 100 young innovators from Australia to form 20 THINKTANKS and develop solutions for 20 big challenges faced by both nations. Applications are open NOW.

WHAT IS CAMP?CAMP is a 100 day part-time experience (3-month online plus 5 day face-to-face), incubator program designed to train, mentor and empower emerging young Australian and Chinese leaders, entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs to first collaborate online and then unite in Sydney as part of Vivid Ideas Festival, to ultimately kick-start their own ventures in Australia and/or China.

By engaging young leaders across both countries and providing a platform to connect, do business and solve problems, CAMP is creating a blueprint for positive bilateral relations and helping Australia become an author, not a bystander, of the Asian Century.

THE CAMP LEARNING COMPONENTS

The CAMP program blends three key learning components: Innovation Methodology, Leadership Skills and Intercultural Capacity.

Innovation MethodologiesInnovation Methodology is about learning and developing innovative ideas, perspectives and models that benefit society and enhance society’s capacity to progress. Many of the methodologies and tools are adapted from the open resources shared by IDEO Design, Standford D-school, THNK and other well-known institutions. They will take you out of your mental comfort zone, enabling you to discover new insights and creative solutions.

Leadership SkillsFrom critical thinking to the ability to inspire and delegate, leadership skills are about nurturing qualities such as self-esteem, authenticity, resilience, intuition and sociability in order to be able to take action and drive change. Every delegate will be connected with our leadership coach to conduct a personal assessment and develop leadership skills in order to successfully handle challenges and demands from both the personal and professional spheres.

Intercultural CapacityExperience new perspectives, customs and practices from your Australian or Chinese fellow-delegates, build knowledge of contemporary Chinese and Australian society and business culture, learn the cross-cultural skills needed for the 21st century to become more effective in managing the complexity of Australia-China relations as well as international environments, connect with outstanding Australian, China and global experts across government, corporate and community sectors, and join a group of alumni of outstanding innovators from both countries. We work closely with top institutions such as Asialink to co-develop this part of the program.

The CAMP Program Timeline The CAMP program takes place in two phases: a 3-month period of working online and a one-week period of working side-by-side in Sydney.

3-month online: March - May 2015During the online incubation phase the delegates are assigned to 20 different THINKTANKs based on their personal preference and background. The teams will be formed to address a real challenge guided by their THINKTANK sponsors which will consist of companies, government agencies, universities and NGOs. This phase is supported through CAMP’s online learning partner. The delegates will receive input through three key stages: Discovery, Ideate and Prototype. They can interact and exchange information with other delegates online and receive learning materials and feedback from both mentors and the CAMP team. The first two stages will each end with a video presentation uploaded by the team, the design and development of a website, whilst the last stage will end with an open pitch presentation by each THINKTANK on the first day in Sydney.
