LOST & FOUNDIdeally, your child will return home with everything they brought to camp.
To make this more likely, it is very important that you label all items with
your child’s name and that your child is aware they are responsible
to keep track of what they bring to camp. At pick-up, lost items
fromtheweekareplacedonatarpatthesoccerfieldfor
viewing and reclaiming. As soon as possible after camp,

unclaimed salvageable items are donated to charity.

The health and safety of your child is our primary concern, therefore please be accurate and complete in providing information that will allow us to better serve you and your child.
HEALTH HISTORY FORM* - DUE JUNE 1, 2018List all allergies and important information that we should know. Medical information that you would like counselors to know should ALSO be included in the “Letter to Counselor” form. We DO NOT require campers to have a physical/medical exam as part of their health history.
PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS – If your camper takes medication: • Do not withhold sending prescription medications if camper takes them at home.•Atcheck-in,deliveranyprescriptionmedicationstocampnurseandfilloutamedicationinstructioncarddetailingdosage and frequency.• Send all medication in original prescription bottle and only enough for the length of camp. • Our camp nurse dispenses all prescription medications. No medications of any type are allowed with camper or in the cabins.• Last dispensing of medications is Friday night. Saturday morning medications are not given. Medications are packed in camper’s bags Saturday morning.
NON-PRESCRIPTION MEDICATIONS If authorized by you on the Health History form, camp staff may dispense non-prescription medications in case of illness or injury. No medications or supplements of any type are allowed with camper or in the cabins.
ALLERGIES & FOOD SERVICEFill out camper Health History form including allergies, typical reaction, etc. Food Allergies: Through information provided to us, we attempt to identify and reduce the use of ingredients that may cause allergic reactions for those with food allergies; however, there is always a risk of contamination, despite care on our part. Camp Reed does not assume any liability for adverse reactions to foods or items a camper may encounter during their stay at Camp Reed. If your child has special dietary needs, please let us know in advance. Due to allergy concerns, DO NOT send any home-baked goods or any items containing peanuts, tree nuts, etc.
NIGHTTIMEBedwetting is more common than most want to admit and we are ready to help your child manage their needs. You may send pull-ups that can be checked-in with the camp nurse during camper check-in. For privacy, your camper can visit the infirmarybeforebedandinthemorning.

SPECIAL NEEDS If your camper has special health needs (including but not limited to: diabetes, cardiac illness, severe asthma, seizures, serious behavioral issues, or severe allergies), you must contact the camp nurse for advance clearance. On a case by case basis, we consult with parent/guardian and our camp directors to determine if accommodation and appropriate care is available. If we are unable to accommodate a special need, we do our best to provide information as to other camps that may be better suited for the particular situation.

CAMP REED STORE We recommend a store deposit of $25 - $75. The
camp store is open afternoons to purchase camp
items t-shirts ($15) sweatshirts ($35) white t-shirts for
tie-dye, leather and craft materials, sunglasses, stuffed
animals and other signature items that range from
$5 - $15. Drinks and healthy snacks are available in
the afternoons with candy and ice cream available

The store is open on Saturday for non-food items,
however, lines can be long. Unless written request is
received, money not spent by camper is automatically
donated to the Camper Program/Equipment Fund.
CAMP POLICIES & PARTICIPANT EXPECTATIONSThe YMCA Camp Reed program expects the following:
• Take responsibility for your actions
• Express a healthy lifestyle
• Follow the direction of counselors and other leaders
• Show respect for yourself, others and all property
• Refrain from exclusive relationships
• Listen with your heart; speak and act honestly
• Consider each person’s spirituality
• Follow all camp rules
DISRUPTIVE CAMPERS/DISCIPLINE POLICYCamp Reed is disappointed when campers choose not
to follow rules, directions, or make poor or unsafe choices.
In most cases, the following steps will be implemented:
1. Meeting with counselor
2. Meeting with directors
3. Phone call home
4. Removal from program
The implementation of this policy and the decision to
remove the camper is within the sole discretion of the camp
directors. In the unfortunate event of camper removal from
the program, parent/guardian will be called to pick-up their
camper immediately. Camp fees will not be refunded.
RESPONSIBILITIES & PLANNING
THERE’S STILL TIME TO REGISTER FOR:

NEW CARE PACKAGE POLICYIn the past, YMCA Camp Reed has allowed care packages for campers. Despite a clearly communicated nut-free policy, care packages frequently contain nut products or items that are potentially cross contaminated. Due to the ongoing risk to vulnerable campers, we will no longer be accepting care packages beginning summer 2018. If a care package is received at camp, it will be held on-site and will be available for pick up upon request. Please see Parent Corner on our website, ymcaspokane.org, for more information. Letters will still be happily accepted and should be addressed as follows:
MAIL Camper Name & Week number c/o YMCA Camp Reed Route 3, Box 252 Deer Park, WA 99006

CAMP Check-in / Pick-up
Families are invited to join us at camp for our last flagpole gathering of the week. Meet us at the waterfront for a half hour closing ceremony. Each parent/guardian must sign out their camper with their counselor before departure. Campers who are not picked up on time will be charged a separate fee to cover the cost of their supervision (as their counselor will need to stay late). Week 6 closing ceremony will be longer as the Japanese students will perform a special dance.
