Nearly three years ago the Trustees of The Aloha Foundation commenced The Gift of Generations Campaign with a goal to increase the endowment of the Foundation by 50%. A survey of the Aloha community indicated strong support around three key areas: Staff Leadership, Camperships’, and Campus Stewardship. We are very pleased to report that at the campaign’s close nearly 400 alumni, parents, staff and friends had given over $7.3 million, well exceeding the original $6 million goal! Existing endowment funds have been augmented and more than a dozen new ones created, all to support the three key areas so central to the Aloha experience. With this infusion from The Gift of Generations Campaign, the combined endowments of The Aloha Foundation now stand at over $20 million, ensuring a solid and bright future for the Aloha Camps. We have been humbled to lead this campaign, witnessing first-hand the deep commitment and enormous generosity of the Aloha community. Donors have given because of the profound impact the Aloha Camps have had on their lives or those of their loved ones. The Gift of Generations reflects a determined interest to nurture and protect this very special place. In 1967, The Aloha Foundation was formed by a core group of dedicated parents and friends to ensure that cherished summer experiences would be repeated for the future generations of children to come. We remember our founding nearly 50 years ago as a time of great stewardship and courage—and we are grateful for each day the Alohas have been given.

The Gift of Generations is another profound moment in our history. Our alumni, parents and friends have spoken loudly about the important role that the Alohas can play in the world. Five generations from now, in our 200th year as a camping organization, grateful children, counselors and parents will be thanking you—the donors of the Gift of Generations—for thinking of them now.

Our staff know that our yearly well being comes from carefully monitoring our revenue and expenses. But our lifeblood comes from our endowment—these funds sustain us, enable us to invest in growth and change, and support us when the hard times come.
