Wilberforce was born in1759 in Hull. He becameMember of Parliament for
Hull and later Yorkshire.Wilberforce campaigned foralmost twenty years to get
a Bill passed in Parliamentto bring an end the BritishTransatlantic Slave Trade.
The campaign becamevery popular with the Britishpublic but there were many
who opposed the campaign.Abolition was finally achieved on 25th March, 1807.

Mrs Pankhurst was oneof the founders and leadersof the campaign for the
right for women to vote.She was often imprisonedfor her violent tactics.
She founded the Women'sSocial and Political Union.During the First World War
Mrs Pankhurst alsoencouraged womento take over men's jobs.

Road fishing community.In 1968 three Hull fishingboats sank in storms near
Iceland soon after eachother and 58 men drowned.Bilocca believed more
