Tajaawob Campaigns Advocacy and Leadership Programme

Do you or someone you know want to know the secrets

of influencing decision makers and holding them accountable?

Join Tajaawobs Campaigns Advocacy and Leadership Programme (CALP)

and learn to use sophisticated personal development and advocacy strategies

    to achieve your influencing goals!

Tajaawob is a two-year long pilot project focused on strengthening Palestinian communities

and civil society. The project started in May 2013 and is funded by the UK Department for

International Development and implemented by the British Council (lead), AMAN, BBC

Media Action, MIFTAH, Oxfam and PalVision.

As a part of Tajaawob, a six-month executive advocacy programme is being offered in Arabic

to high potential Palestinian professionals and activists from Al-Quds, the West Bank and

Gaza. Over the course of six months, CALP participants will have access to bi-monthly

mentoring and training opportunities tailored to their advocacy goals.

CALP starts with an intensive week-long classroom learning experience and ends with a

similar week-long training module II (i.e. May and November 2014). In between the two

week-long classroom learning experiences, over the course of six months participants will

participate in various training and mentoring sessions to enable them to make use of the

best skills and knowledge they acquired during the training, and enable them to develop

and implement advocacy campaigns in practice.

    Cost

The cost of the CALP training is estimated at 4000 per participant which will be covered by

the Tajaawob programme for successful nominees. In addition, Tajaawob will cover

additional costs as accommodation and some incidental costs. Participation in the

programme is conditional on the commitment of the sponsoring CSO to allow sufficient time

for the participant to take part, and their commitment to support him/her by encouraging

them to work on an actual advocacy campaign within their work context.

In order to cover extraordinary costs, additional grants are available for individuals from the

following communities who are either unemployed or are the sole providers for their

families and may have to forego work in order to attend the training: Um Salamoona,

    Management Commitment

The commitment of the managers of organizations that the nominee comes from is

essential to the successful participation of candidates. In order to ensure that participants

gain the full value of the course, managers will have to play an active enabling role.

In this regard, we are requiring managers of all participants to attend a one day

informational meeting to learn about Tajaawob and about what the Campaigns Advocacy

and Leadership Programme is, and to get to know each other as organizations engaged in

    social change in Palestine.

Additionally, managers will need to sign the attached memorandum of understanding and

ensure that participants can commit their time to the CALP sessions.
