HEALTH AND SAFETY RESOURCES UK Counseling Center The counseling center offers confidential psychological counseling to all currently enrolled UK students. Students are welcome to meet with a counselor for any reason by drop-in or by appointment. VIP Center The UK Violence Intervention Prevention (VIP) Center provides free and confidential services to anyone in the UK community who has experienced violence or knows someone who has experienced violence. The VIP Center also leads and supports a culture of accountability to eliminate violence and oppression. University Health Service (UHS) UHS provides a variety of health services to UK students, including primary care, women’s health and health education. Student Behavioral Health Clinic The Student Behavioral Health Clinic provides help with, including but not limited to, depression, anxiety, drug/alcohol abuse, eating disorders, attention difficulties, stress, and grief. SafeCats SAFECATS (Safe And Free Escort for Campus Area Traveling Students) is a safety escort service available to UK students and their guests. University of Kentucky Police Department The University of Kentucky Police Department's mission is to promote a safe and secure campus environment for students, faculty, staff and visitors. UKPD provides quality services ethically, fairly and equally in partnership with the community. UKPD can be contacted at 859-257-UKPD or #8573. ACADEMIC RESOURCES Academic Coaching with Tranformative Learning Either by appointment or drop-in, students are able to receive individual guidance on a wide variety of academic or personal goals. Disability Resource Center Students with documented physical, learning, or temporary disabilities may receive assistance and support from this office. The purpose of the DRC is to achieve an accessible educational environment where students with disabilities have an equal opportunity to fully participate in all aspects of the university community. General Chemistry Learning Center Open to any student needing help with 100-level general chemistry classes. All help is provided on a drop-in basis by teaching assistants from the general chemistry lab courses. Lab for Economic and Accounting Proficiency (LEAP) Open to students needing assistance with ACC 201/202 or ECO 201/202/391. Math Resource Center Open to students needing assistance with 100-level math courses. Organic Chemistry Learning Center Open to any student needing help with introductory organic chemistry classes. All help is provided on a drop-in basis by teaching assistants from the organic chemistry lab courses. Power Hour Workshops From grammar to financial management, group projects to critical reading, power hour workshops are held weekly throughout the school year on a variety of topics relevant to college life. Presentation U! Assignment-specific peer tutoring for oral, written, visual or related projects. Student Support Services Open to students who are first generation (neither parent holds a four-year college degree), low income as determined by federal guidelines (e.g. Pell-eligible) and students with documented disabilities. This office assists with a variety of needs both in and outside the classroom. The Study With two locations, The Study offers free peer tutoring services for a variety of core courses in Chemistry, Biology, Math, Economics, Accounting, Physics, Statistics, Spanish and more. No appointment necessary, but students are encouraged to visit The Study's website to check tutoring hours. Writing Center Open to all students needing assistance with essays, papers, posters, visuals, websites, slide presentations, videos and/or podcasts. The center is staffed by graduate students, full-time instructors, part-time consultants and undergraduate peer consultants.
