Annual Students vs. Staff and Faculty
Softball Tournament
Students and staff faced off at Ryan Field on Wednesday, April 27, just as they have for the past 19 years. Faculty and staff have dominated through the years but students are making a comeback …with enthusiasm! The final score was Students 12 – faculty/staff 1. The Student Senate sponsored the program, providing t-shirts for the student team, Kurt’s Hotdogs free for the afternoon and music. (continued on page 2)

If you want a PTK tassel and/or stole for graduation, there are a few ways to do this:
1. Volunteer! a) 15 hours for a tassel b) 25 hours for a tassel and stole c) Input your hours into the Discussion Board in the PTK Blackboard and then pick up your bling BEFORE Finals’ Week. 2. Purchase them off the ptk.org website 3. Rent! Only the STOLES are available to rent. It costs $30 CASH to rent a stole. Upon return, you will receive $25 of your $30 back.

The Connecticut Association of Latin Americans in Higher Education (CALAHE) will award several $1,000 scholarships for the 2016-17 academic year. Scholarship applications are available in the NCCC Financial Aid Office or may be download-ed from the CALAHE homepage www.calahe.org
Application must be postmarked by May 6, 2016 and mailed to Dr. Wilson Luna, Gateway Community College, 20 Church Street, New Haven, CT 06510.
Many items including keys, jackets, coffee/beverage mugs, lunch bags, thumb drives and books have been turned in this semester to the Lost and Found.
Lost and Found services are maintained in the Information Center (FH 104) and the Student Activities Office (GW 110). If you have lost an item while on campus, please check with Darlene at the Information Center (FH 104) or by phone at 860-738-6300 or the Office of Student Activities at 860-738-6343 (Susan) or 860-738-6344 (Kathy) as soon as possible. Positive ID is required when collecting your lost item.
Any items not claimed soon will be donated to Goodwill.

LGBTQIA+ Club Members will be volunteering at the
35th annual Gay Pride Parade (NOHO in North Hampton, Massachusetts on Saturday, May 7th (carpools forming now for an estimated time of arrival at 9:00am). Lunch will be provided. If you are interested in attending either event, please contact Karen Hunter, 860-738-6402 or [email protected] .
Improv Workshops at NCCC
These FREE workshops in Improv are open to all levels of players with an interest in exploring improvisational theater. Join us and exercise your mind! The workshops are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30pm to 9:00pm in Green Woods Hall Room 101. Check us out on Facebook! We are NC Cubed.
OPEN GYM Mondays thru Thursdays, 10am-4:30pm
(Tuesdays/Thursdays 2:30-4:30 reserved for Basketball) The NCCC Gym (GW 128) is open to all registered students for basketball, ping pong and, with advanced requests, volleyball and dodge ball. Equipment is provided.

CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry—April 2016
On Thursday, April 21, we served 128 households (which translates to approximately 300 people) through the CT Food Bank Mobile Pantry. Off the truck items included celery, onions, honeydew, carrots, corn, spinach, olives, grapes, bread, potatoes, pasta sauce, iced tea, mango drink, little onions, and oranges. Thank you to all the great volunteers!

CAP provides free 6 hour training with professionals for individuals, community leaders, coaches, foster parents and faith based groups who would like more education on how to recognize, provide support and give assistance to those struggling with addictions such as alcohol, drugs, gambling,
inhalant abuse, as well as many mental health issues
facing us today including suicide.

Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Emergency Medical Technicians respond to medical emergencies such as heart attacks, car accidents and fires. They provide life support to seriously ill or injured patients before they reach the hospital. Successful completion of this course enables the EMT student to take the national written and practical exams for certification. Successful completion of the national exam allows the student to get their Connecticut EMT Certification. Cost: $850, plus textbooks and exam fees.
