SNOWBERRY LOOP provides an Eastern sweeping view of hillsides and farms in the neighbourhood of Ellison. The paved route is perfect for a brisk walk during a lunch or study break. OLD POND TRAIL is home to the campus pond, a natural wetland ecosystem and engineered water system. In this unique site, diverse interests come together: at-risk wildlife species, the original farmhouse, the Learning Garden, and a First Nations fire pit. JUNIPER TRAIL connects Snowberry Loop with Pine Trail. Enjoy a quick walk through the trees and reconnect with nature. These trails provide the opportunity to enjoy the breathtaking natural environment of the Central Okanagan. The development of campus trails is a collaboration between staff, faculty, students, and community members. Look for signs along the trails to learn about the connection between humans and nature. EXERCISE – Take some time to try out some unique exercises specific to these trails. Move your body! HISTORY – Enjoy the history behind the land you walk on with intriguing Okanagan facts and Aboriginal stories. NATURE – Learn something new about the abundant ecosystem we are so privileged to enjoy: water, flora, fauna, and land. LEARN – UBC’s surroundings are sites for innovative research and academic opportunities ranging from habit studies to ecoart. RELAX – Appreciate the beauty, ease stresses, and take a mental break.
