Model answer:a) Pesticide is sprayed onto crops, each insect eats some of the
crop, so has eaten some pesticide. One small bird eats thousands of insects, therefore has eaten lots of pesticide. A predator like the hawk will eat hundreds of small birds. Each small bird has a lot of pesticide in it, so the hawk now has a very large dose of pesticide.
b) The amount of pesticide taken in by organisms as you move along the food chain will increase.
