Who Can apply for Canadian Citizenship
Anyone applying for Canadian Citizenship • Must be 18 years or older• Must be a Permanent Resident• Must have lived in Canada for 3 years (1095 days) in the last 4 years• Must understand communicating in English or French (level 4
listening and speaking)• Must know about Canada and you must know about the rights and
responsibilities of a Canadian Citizen• Must be able to attend a ceremony and take the oath of citizenship
• When you are applying for Canadian Citizenship
• You must not be under removal order• You must not be a security risk• You must not be criminally prohibited
What documents do you need
You need:• You need your Confirmation of Permanent Residence Form• You need 2 pieces of Identification• Your Social Insurance Number• You need your LINC certificate• Your current address along with all the addresses you have
lived at in the last 4 years• The names of all the places you have worked or went to
school in the last 4 years• Your children’s school report cards for the past 4 years
Acceptable Identification (you need 2)-a Canadian driver’s license -a Canadian health card-a copy of the biographical page of your passport/travel document, etc.
Cost of Canadian Citizenship Application
• Adult (18 years and older) $400• Minor (under 18 years old) $100

Application Processing Time
• It takes 24 months (2 years) for them to process your application
• It can take up to 35 months if there is mistake with your application
Preparing for the Citizenship Test
• Only those between ages 18-54

• You can apply for a Canadian Passport
If you have any troubles while you are travelling outside of Canada, the Canadian embassy can help you
• Freedom to choose to practice any religion of your choice
• Freedom of thought, belief, opinion, expression and freedom of speech
• When you retire, if you choose to go live in your home country you may be entitled to a pension if you have worked in Canada

• Serve on a jury
We should work• Take care of yourself and your family. There is a need for
every sector to be filled
We should vote• Voting is a way to have your voice heard• Our children depend on us to represent their voices too• Voting changes communities• Its a way of honoring our history
