“Our ambition is to provide fast broadband to all Australians, no matter where they are, allowing them to live and work where they choose.
Our research shows that in providing this level of connectivity, nbn is underpinning the digital economy, driving the rapid growth of regional businesses, and therefore playing our part in enabling the broader economic and social benefits which flow from this.”

Welcome
Welcome to the Regional Australia Institute’s (RAI) inaugural Regions Rising National Summit.
As the co-CEOs, we are extremely proud to be launching this national series that promotes the importance of regional Australia and enables us to work with our stakeholders on issues that matter. We believe regional Australia should be at the forefront of national policy development and our organisation is committed to achieving this.
Regional Australia is made up of a diverse range of communities from across the country, and over 9.05 million people call regional Australia home. The national series enables us to connect with stakeholders around the country for deeper discussions, robust debate, and insightful outcomes that will inform current opportunities and challenges impacting our regions.
We encourage you to actively listen, contribute, and engage with the presenters and other attendees. This is the first event of its kind bringing together such a diverse range of people from across regional Australia, including those from all levels of government, key industry representatives, political leaders, and leaders in the community sector.
There is something for everyone here today, and we hope you walk away feeling inspired, informed, and ready to collaborate!

Policy Hack // Information
What is a policy hack?A policy hack brings people together to share ideas and develop solutions to problems. The focus is on openness and sharing. A question will be posed and the aim is for participants to brainstorm an efficient and implementable solution/policy.
LogisticsParticipants will receive an overview of the session just prior to the afternoon tea break, and will be asked to move to their groups at 2.50pm.
Important points to note for each group:
» We expect the group size for each Policy Hack to be quite large (40-50 people), and participants will be seated in tables of 10.
» Each table will need to appoint a scribe and a spokesperson.
» Butchers paper and markers will be available on the table.
» A facilitator, industry representative, and team leader will run the session and circulate amongst the tables to aid the discussion among the group.
OutcomeAt the conclusion of the Policy Hack, your ideas will be collected and after the Summit, RAI staff will collate the responses and craft a policy document which will be circulated to all Summit participants, and also to both sides of government to assist them in their policy development.
