Adrian BlighI have tremendous admiration for the National Health Service and very much welcome the opportunity tostand for election as a Governor of the newly formed RUH Bath NHS Trust. I believe that a Governor willplay an important part in ensuring that the Trust is responsive to local needs and continues to deliver anexcellent service.

I have the skills, the time and the enthusiasm to bring to the role of Governor. I trained as a charteredaccountant and spent 25 years with KPMG, one of the largest accounting firms in the world, the last 10of those years as a general audit partner. As a result I have a good understanding of detailed and complex

financial information and am very familiar with auditing concepts. I later spent 7 years as Foundation Secretary and Clerk tothe Governors for a large educational charity. That particular Foundation had 32 Governors and this helped me gain a goodinsight into the structure and dynamics of an effective governing body. I am now retired, in good health and looking for a freshchallenge.

I have no direct relationship with the Trust other than as a day surgery patient on a couple of occasions in the last two years.I did have a life-saving operation 40 years ago and will be forever grateful to the NHS for that.

I would like to represent you and hope for your support.

Sylvia CleggApplying for membership of the Council of Governors allows me the opportunity to offer my known skillsand utilize my abilities for the furtherance of the Trust. I would obviously be prepared to undertake thenecessary training to enhance my understanding of all that the post demands.

I have several grandchildren and great grandchildren, all of whom help to keep me young and try to keepme up with current trends.

I am currently involved with Chippenham Age Concern as Treasurer and am a relief driver for Transportfor the Disabled plus I assist with fund raising for both organizations.

Being a retired carer, with experience of working in hospitals, and in the NHS support system, has given me knowledge andexperience of NHS provisions. I have visited RUH as an Outpatient, Inpatient and been a regular visitor to inpatients in thelast few years which I feel has given me an understanding of some service users needs and requirements.

I would appreciate the opportunity to work with a team of persons who are committed to furthering the objectives of the Trust.

Nick GambleI have recently retired from a fulltime career in engineering consultancy and am currently a non executivedirector of the firm that I founded in 1991. This now leaves me time to pursue other interests. I would liketo apply the skills learnt in building, managing and promoting a business to public service. I am particularlyinterested in the health service and the immense challenge of balancing need, technology and money ina way that is fair to all. I am a member of the Trust and also a patient.

If elected, my main focus would be on understanding the needs and experiences of my constituency toenable me to apply appropriate influence through the council of governors on matters relating to the

provision of healthcare services such as the upgrading or refurbishment of existing facilities and the development of futurefacilities and services. I would like to understand how the Trust responds to patient feedback, particularly where there has beensignificant criticism.

I have a sound grasp of legislative instruments and would be watchful that the Trust is operating within the terms of its licenseand is fulfilling the vision statement set out in the RUH business plan. I would want to know that improvements in high profileservices are not achieved at the expense of equally important services that have a lesser profile. I would like to be proud ofthe hospital and its aims so that I can serve with confidence as an ambassador.

Declaration of Interests: Political Party: NoneFinancial or other interest in the Trust: I am a patient of the hospital.

Jan TaylorI retired from my career as a Therapeutic Radiographer in 2007 after over 35 years in the profession, working within NHS Cancer Services. I trained in Manchester at the world famous Christie Hospital whereI worked for 20 years before moving to Clatterbridge Centre for Oncology, the Mersey Regional Centre,in 1992. I ended my career as Radiotherapy Service Manager at the Northamptonshire Centre forOncology.

During that time I gained considerable awareness and experience of the many challenges that faceproviders of modern NHS services. I was directly involved, not only in clinical service delivery and

management, but also, at local, regional and national level, with staff training, service development and strategic planning.

Following my early retirement, my partner, Geff, and I moved to Corsham to be closer to our family in 2008. I now have timeavailable to enable me to give something back.

I have always had a strong desire to help others, and I feel that my many years of NHS service, which required goodcommunication skills and team working on many different levels, have provided me with many of the attributes required to fulfilthe role of Governor.

I have always maintained my interest in the NHS, and especially Cancer Services. I feel I am ideally suited to work with, andfor, the people of North Wiltshire, and that I could make a very effective contribution.

I would consider it an enormous privilege to be elected to serve my community in this way.
