Welcome back for Term 4
It was lovely to see everyone back ready for the summer term in
their summer uniforms.
This term we have Open Day, Swimming School, Sydney excursion,
Kindergarten
Orientation and Musica Viva. There is a lot to look forward to.
We would like to welcome
the Gillies family to our school; Abby is in Year 1 and Tom is
in Year 2.
Author visit – Irena Kobald
Yesterday, students from Years 3-6 were visited by Irena Kobald
who is the author of the
book ‘My Two Blankets’. It is a beautifully written and
thought-provoking book about
friendship, migration, being lost in a new world, drowning in a
new language and the gift
of a smile. These powerful themes are brought to life by Freya
Blackwood’s amazing
illustrations. Irena took great interest in our own student’s
writing and was very
impressed with its quality. It was a most valuable experience
for all of our students.
Bus Trial
The school was informed during the holidays that unfortunately
the proposed school bus
service for Canobolas Public School will not go ahead. This is
due to insufficient demand
as registered on the survey conducted last term.
Teeball Gala Day – Years 3-4
Thank you to Mrs Carrigan for organising the T-Ball gala day at
the end of term 3. Many
of our students were introduced to T-Ball for the first time.
All students had a great day.
Australian National Field Days - Band
On Thursday 25th the big band are playing at the opening of the
Australian National Field
Days. More information is on the note which is coming home
today.
Sydney Excursion
The Sydney excursion is just around the corner. We need to
finalise notes and payments
as soon as possible. Please return both to the office if you
have not already.
UNSW Mathematics Test Results
Congratulations to these students for excellent results in the
recent UNSW Mathematics
test;
Credits - Emme, Oscar, Beatrix, Amelia S, Matilda, Matthew,
Poppy, Caitlyn and Georgia
Year 1-2
Mrs Hunt is on leave this week and is being replaced by Ms
Willis. Ms Willis will also
be teaching the class on Mondays for the rest of the year. Today
1-2 were joined by
Mrs Willis (Ms Willis’ mum) for a pottery lesson which was messy
and lots of fun!
The Canobolas community wish to extend our condolences and note
the passing of
Mr Ross Stanford. Mr Stanford was a long-standing member and
supporter of the
Canobolas community. He attended the school himself, as did his
daughter Pam
and now grand-daughters Sarah and Eleanor.
