6 Safety Precautions1. Do not look at the sun or a bright light sourcethrough the lens or camera. Doing so could

result in loss of vision. Looking at the sun directlythrough the lens is especially hazardous.2. Whether it is attached to the camera or not, donot leave the lens under the sun without the

lens cap attached. This is to prevent the lensfrom concentrating the sun's rays, which couldcause a fire.

6 Handling CautionsIf the lens is taken from a cold environment intoa warm one, condensation may develop on thelens surface and internal parts. To preventcondensation in this case, first put the lens into anairtight plastic bag before taking it from a cold towarm environment. Then take out the lens after ithas warmed gradually. Do the same when taking thelens from a warm environment into a cold one.

Operation issubject to the following two conditions: (1) This device may notcause harmful interference, and (2) this device must accept anyinterference received, including interference that may causeundesired operation.Do not make any changes or modifications to the equipment

unless otherwise specified in the instructions. After detaching the lens, place the lenswith therear end up to prevent the lens surface and, electrical contacts from getting scratched. o Setting the Focus ModeTo shoot in autofocus (AF) mode, set the focusmode switch to AF.To use only manual focusing (MF), set the focusmode switch to MF, and focus by turning thefocusing ring. The focusing ring always works,regardless of the focus mode.[1] AfterautofocusinginONESHOT AF mode, focusmanually by pressing the shutter button halfway

o Hood (Sold Separately)The EW-83E hood can keep unwanted light out of the lens, and also protects the lens from rain,snow, and dust.

To attach the hood, align the hood's attachment position mark with the red dot on the front of thelens, then turn the hood as shown by the arrow until the lens' red dot is aligned with the hood's stopposition mark.The hood can be reverse-mounted on the lens for storage.o Part of the picture may be blocked if the hood is not attached properly... When attaching or detaching the hood, grasp the base of the hood to turn it. To prevent deformation, do notgrasp the rim of the hood to turn it.
