Annual General Meeting Last Monday evening the Governing Council held their 2012 Annual General Meeting. At the meeting a range of reports were presented that highlighted the work of the various Sub Committees of Council as well as reports from the Chairperson and the Principal. This AGM was not as well attended as in previous years but those who did attend were able to hear about many highlights and achievements from this year. I would like to thank the outgoing members of the Governing Council for their commitment and contributions during their 2 year tenure. Retiring are Caroline Hewett, Lolita Wegner, Toni Brown and Jason Howse. Two members chose to renominate for Council and together with some new nominations they will join the Council for the next two years. Congratulations to these people, Candi Kinks, Ashley Krischock, Sue Hoppo, Deb Percey, Monica Dinan and Bree Hodgson. They will be working with these continuing members, Allison Cale, Kim Costello, Barb Heaton, Lyndall Pratt, Trish Francis and Annegret Lackmann. Thanks you to all those who were able to attend the meeting.
Celebration Night As you are very well aware our annual Celebration Night is happening on Monday 10th December. The evening is programmed to officially start at 6.30pm and families are welcome to arrive earlier than this and get their spot on the oval banks. All students are involved in this celebration and it is a fun community event. Please note that a Sausage Sizzle and drinks will be available from 5:30-6:30pm. More formation about Celebration Night is coming home today.

Library News Premier's Reading Challenge Congratulations to all students who participated in the 2012 Premier's Reading Challenge. All certificates and medals have been distributed to students. The challenge has been highly successful again this year with 370 of our students participating. The challenge is a great way to encourage children to read and discover the pleasures of reading. The more students read the more they will improve their literacy skills. Congratulations to the following students who received The "Hall of Fame, Reader for Life" award for completing the Challenge, every year for eight years - Bailey D, D'Arcy M, Sheridan N, Sharina W, Kendall W and Bradley C. End of Year Returns The end of the year is fast approaching and it is that time of year when all library books need to be returned. Today is the last day for borrowing and all books and "take-home readers" need to be returned by Friday 30th November. The summer holiday is the only holiday period in which we don't allow children to borrow. We need to recall all books to allow us to repair and organize our collection ready for the New Year. Encourage your child/children to continue reading during the holidays. Visit your local library and enrol in the Summer Reading Program. The Summer Reading Club
runs from December to February each year. It is a National Annual Reading Program designed to encourage students to read over the summer school holidays. The Onkaparinga Library is holding a launch party on Saturday 1st December from 12-2:00 pm. Go along and register at the launch and have a fantastic afternoon at the same time. Activites include " Bop Til You Drop" disco and karaoke, henna tattoos, large games/lego and a sausage sizzle! Once registered you can record your minutes spent reading and write your book reviews to gain points. Points can be used to bid for prizes at the auction in February. For more information, contact the Onkaparinga Library

Cafe Craigburn News A few weeks ago the Junior and Middle Primary School classes did a survey asking the students what they would like to see in the canteen. The over whelming response was LOL’S and Stringers. So due to popular demand we are now selling LOL’S in 2 flavours- Tropical and blackcurrant for $2.50! Similar products to Stringers (they were no longer available) are called Loopy Laces or 70c! Weekly Meal Special – Week 8 & 9. We have decided to extend the Mega Meatball Roll for another 2 weeks as this proved to be very popular. Try 5 tasty delicious meatballs on a warm roll, sprinkled with cheese and your choice of Sweet Chilli, BBQ or Tomato sauce. Great value for $3.50 POPULAR MEAL COMBOS – Available every day Hot dog with sauce + a moosie or crusher $4.00 5 nuggets + a buttered roll and a giant python $4.00 Please note Noodles are now $2.70. Thank you to everyone who supported our Cold Rock Ice-cream Day last Tuesday. We have decided to do it again next Tuesday 4th December at lunchtime and we will be serving under the verandah at the back of the canteen. You will be able to buy 1 scoop vanilla ice-cream (in a bowl) with a variety of different toppings for $1.50 or 2 Scoops for $2.50. Just a reminder as the weather starts to warm up you can purchase Crushers (you don’t need a lunch order), Moosies, Life Savers and Frosty Fruits ($1.20) and Juicys at recess and lunchtime. It gets very busy especially at lunchtime so please be patient.
Thank you Sue and Sue – Canteen Managers
