Haz-Elec is a young and vibrant company with a team of over 40 specialist electrical, mechanical and technical personnel, headed by a highly qualified management team with more than 125 years combined experience.

Haz-Elec prioritises safety, quality, the environment and customer satisfaction on every job. Our multi-skilled tradespeople are remote site professionals, with the competencies, inductions and support systems needed to complete work quickly and effectively, in any location. The skills and qualifications of the Haz-Elec team are expanded as needed, to meet client demand.

Directors

BRIAN McCARTHY

Brian has national and international electrical experience and expertise, specifically in Hazardous Area work and projects. Starting his career in Ireland, as an apprentice Electrician / Instrument Fitter with Jameson Irish Distillers, which has numerous Hazardous Areas and significant process control, Brian travelled the world furthering his trade and honing his skills. Settling in Australia, Brian continued to expand his Hazardous Area electrical expertise, through the management and commissioning of many large projects for clients such as BP, Shell, Caltex, Origin Energy and Queensland Sugar, to name a few.

ADRIAN SIMPSON

Adrian has national and international electrical experience, covering all areas of industrial and commercial work. After completing his electrical apprenticeship in Australia, Adrian added to his qualifications with a Diploma in Computer Engineering. He completed a nine year stint in the United Kingdom, where he expanded his expertise managing a UK-based Computer Maintenance Company. He was contracted to set up an Australian branch of this company and trained in business management, finance and accounting.

BRUCE KNOX | Engineering Manager

Bruce has a solid reputation for providing engineering, design and support services to Industrial, Hazardous Area and Transportation clients. He has more than 35 years’ experience in a variety of engineering and management sectors, including more than 20 years specifically in Hazardous Area design, automation, installation and servicing. As well as delivering turnkey solutions for clients, Bruce is also able to offer support and guidance to engineers in other disciplines, in matters of process and facility management.

ROBERT LOMAX | Project Manager

Robert’s electrical knowledge and expertise cover a breadth of industries and applications. Excelling in commercial and industry systems, Rob worked in major shopping centres, airports, quarries and Hazardous Areas, before moving into power sub-stations and transmission networks. He has more than 25 years’ experience in the electrical industry, covering all facets of domestic, commercial and industrial sectors. As well as being personally qualified and experienced in the industry, Rob has the background and capabilities to project manage the Haz-Elec team.

JOHAN VORSTER | Townsville Manager

Johan has a solid professional background in electrical services, with a focus on developing, implementing and maintaining effective maintenance schedules and associated works to maximise productivity and compliance. He gathered more than 25 years’ electrical experience with some of Australia’s leading, major national mining and industrial companies, including BHP Billiton and JBS Australia, before joining the Haz-Elec team in 2012. Johan manages Haz-Elec’s Townsville branch and is an important member of the key management team.

Haz-Elec undertakes regular onsite audits of all of our Safety Programs and in recognition of our success in this area we were awarded the BP Certificate of High Achievement. We also undertake online WHHSE audits for Shell Australia and Caltex, and have attained high passes in both systems.

Haz-Elec has an impeccable safety record and ongoing training ensures all products and personnel meet, and where possible exceed, required industry standards.
