ABOUT LIGHTNING BRICK PAVERS Founded in 2006, Lightning Brick Pavers is a leading commercial paving contractor based in Perth, Western Australia.
We provide quality standard tiling, brick and concrete paving solutions, and specialise in granite and stone paving. We have the resources to deliver projects of any scale and complexity.
Since our inception we have provided quality paving services to local government, civil and commercial projects throughout the state.

THE GRANITE PAVING SPECIALISTS In recent years local governments across Western Australia have undertaken street enhancement projects, adopting more resilient granite paving for city centre streets, high profile locations and footpaths.
As a leading provider of granite installation in WA, we are proud to have been a part of many high profile projects such as the Forrest Place, Yagan Square and St Georges Terrace streetscapes.

FORREST PLACE STAGES 2, 3A AND 3B Scope of works This project was part of the redevelopment of Forrest Place within the heart of the City of Perth. Major streetscape, roadworks, granite paving, lighting and a water feature were part of the master plan. Our scope included the demolition of existing paving, granite direct stick paving, concrete footings, granite paving and granite kerbing.

WELLINGTON STREET UPGRADE STAGES 2 AND 3 Scope of works We supplied and installed the entire verge pavement for the Wellington Street upgrade, which included granite kerbing with concrete footings, limestone preparation, 40 MPA 150mm thick SFC concrete for the granite subbase and granite tiling. All work was completed in-house using our own trades and labour.

YAGAN SQUAREScope of worksAs part of the Yagan Square project, we were engaged to install 4,000sqm of specialised granite paving. We used a wet method lay install system using specialised mortars and primers. The granite was laid on 30-50mm mortar on top of a 150mm concrete subbase before it was finished off with a specialised grout.

ST GEORGES TERRACE STREETSCAPES Scope of works The St Georges Terrace streetscapes project involved the narrowing of traffic lanes, granite paving laid on concrete pavement, granite kerbing, electrical lighting, road reconstruction and extensive underground services improvements. We installed the limestone pavements, granite kerbs, granite and concrete paving and minor street furniture. Certain activities were performed during night shifts to ensure public safety and minimise disruption.

CALLEYA TOWN CENTREScope of works After Georgiou completed the limestone base course we took possession of the Calleya Town Centre site to supply a full turn-key package. We completed the entire project which included the supply and installation of ACO drains, concrete subgrade, concrete kerbing, specialised Steintec bedding mortars and grout and granite cobbles.

THE RITZ-CARLTONScope of works LBP is well regarded for its specialised work with granite cobblestone pavement and this project used seven different sized cobblestones in a randomised pattern, laid with engineered screeds and grouts. The new surrounding areas were colour and pattern matched with existing pavement. The main driveway/hotel entrance was laid with granite cobblestone pavement and granite kerbing. The high level of quality workmanship complements the luxury of the 6-star hotel and is testament to the skills of the Lightning Brick Pavers team. LBP also completed a large amount of civils and concrete works.

STANDARD PAVING, OUTSTANDING QUALITY For over a decade, Lightning Brick Pavers has been providing high quality commercial paving services to clients spanning the local government, civil and construction industries.

GATEWAYScope of worksWe were presented with an overall achievement award for the quality of our work on the Gateway project. Our scope included the supply and installation of 26,000sqm of flexible paving spread over multiple areas. We used standard spec paving and heavy duty 60mm red from Brikmakers’ Flagstone range. The project was completed over day and night shifts and multiple full weekend shutdowns.

COCKBURN COASTScope of worksAs part of the Cockburn Coast project, we supplied and installed 2,500sqm of 80mm masonry paving on the roads and intersections and 3,500sqm of paving on the verges. The verges and public open space areas included a specialised UrbanStone pattern. The project was completed in different stages with the civil work completed first, followed by the landscape package.

KWINANA FREEWAY EXTENSIONScope of works The Kwinana Freeway extension involved the supply and installation of 6,500sqm of Main Roads WA’s standard paving. We operated and completed the works during restricted hours, night shifts and weekend shifts so there was no disruption to traffic.

CURTIN CREATIVE QUARTERScope of works The Curtin Creative Quarter was a specialised flexible paving hardscape contract. We supplied and installed 4,000sqm of UrbanStone and Brikmakers paving. The entire pavement was patterned and required a detailed set-out to ensure alignment through the building.

BAYVIEW TERRACE STREETSCAPEScope of worksThe Bayview Terrace streetscape upgrade project involved the demolition of existing road and verge pavements and the installation of new pavements, kerbing and brick paving. Our scope included demolition, excavation and earthworks, and brick paving. The works required the highest safety standards when working in restricted areas, noise management, and plant and pedestrian interaction.

ALKIMOS TURNSTONE STREET Scope of works Alkimos Turnstone Street was a supply and install project of approximately 4,000sqm and took approximately four weeks to complete. The scope of works included nine different paving types and comprehensive patterns on the verges, as well as installation of all furniture and other fixtures.

MARABOO ISLANDScope of works This paving package highlights our diverse paving delivery expertise. LBP is well known for our stone and rigid pavement projects but we complete and deliver numerous subdivisional projects for many of Perth's largest civil infrastructure companies. This package was 6500 sqm of 80mm patterned flexible road paving. The entire island is paved with no asphalt. The job completed through the winter months and in approx. 6/7 weeks. It is a combination of 80mm interlocking pavers and 80mm patterned flagstone paver.

ROCKINGHAM BEACHFRONT Scope of works LBP supplied and installed 8500sqm of patterned Urbanstone brick paving. The job was delivered in two stages with all surrounding businesses still operating. The design from Place Labs was particularly difficult being the project was over different stages, but the result is magnificent. Other areas such as stakeholder consideration, functioning businesses, public accessibility through construction areas and weather through winter all played a part in making this a difficult but very fulfilling project.

CECIL AVE STAGE 1Scope of works We completed the entire supply and install of road paving, verge paving and also all granite kerbing and footing construction. The paving totalled 12,500 sqm with just under 1 km of granite kerbs and concrete footings, all of which were constructed in stages to accommodate live traffic through the job and adjacent operating businesses. There was a very short construction program of only 6 months to complete but the project was finished on time and to a very high standard.

PAUL CLAXTON MANAGING DIRECTOR Paul is the owner and managing director of Lightning Brick Pavers and has been involved in the civil and building construction industry for more than 20 years. Lightning Brick has been operating since 2006 and has grown to become one of the top paving contractors in WA.
Paul’s work ethic, commercial experience and wide knowledge of the construction industry add value to every project. He has a strong focus on client relationships and ensuring the needs of the client are met or exceeded.
Under his leadership, Lightning Brick has cultivated a dedicated team and performance-based culture that is evident in every project delivered.
Fundamentally, Paul is committed to ensuring his business provides a service that is safe, competitive, reliable and of the very highest standard.

Mark has a comprehensive understanding of civil, commercial and domestic hard scape construction and finishes.
His primary focus is to provide a service that delivers quality workmanship and safety within a timely schedule. He has proven his ability to take on any business-related challenges that may arise whilst maintaining productivity within a work crew.

IAN JONESSENIOR SITE MANAGER/OPERATIONS MANAGERIan has been a part of the Lightning Brick Pavers team for the past eight years and has extensive knowledge and many years of on-ground experience as a site manager. He shows attention to detail, has excellent pre-planning and presents strong communication and coordination skills which, when applied to operations between subcontractors and plant operations, ensure projects are delivered on time and to budget.
Ian has immense experience in safety, environmental and quality management. He always adheres to strict safety laws at all times within office and site environments, completes traceable quality records that track activities and material, and manages sub-contractor procurement and liaison to achieve the best fit for the project.

ROBERT ANDERSONTILING OPERATIONS MANAGERRob has been part of the Lightning Brick Pavers team for two years, and prior to his commencement was the commercial manager for Commercial Tiling Services WA. Due to Rob’s experience and reputation in the WA market, he has strengthened our business by expanding our current services offered in the interior and exterior tiling markets. He has also introduced Lightning Brick to the mechanically fixed cladding markets and we are now well recognised for our services in this area.

DEAN EVANSTILING SITE SUPERVISOROver the past eight years at Lightning Brick Pavers, Dean has developed his trade, expanded his skillset and demonstrated exceptional leadership qualities. Commencing as a labourer, he has since qualified as a paver and tiler, and held numerous supervisor positions. Today he’s responsible for the supervision of our large-scale commercial granite and tiling projects.

We are focused on reducing waste, minimising industrial noise and emissions, reducing the use of non-renewable resources and increasing recycling.
Our Environmental Policy also focuses on:
• acting on the environmental requirements and expectations of our clients, community, stakeholders, insurers and industry associations;
• providing information and training to our people in environmental issues awareness and work procedures; and
