0You will often use subject pronouns (pronombres personales) when discussing people in Spanish. You have already used subject pronouns with the following forms of the verb ser (to be) to identify people and to say where someone is from.

0Subject pronouns may be used with or without a verb. They may not be needed if the subject is already known or if the verb form itself identifies the subject.

Plural Subject Pronouns

0The plural forms nosotras, vosotras, and ellas refer only to females, while the subject pronouns nosotros, vosotros, and ellos are used to refer to either to males only or to a mixed group of both males and females.

Ellos son de Miami. They (the boys) are from Miami.Ellas son de Charleston. They (the girls) are from Charleston.But:Ellos son de los Estados Unidos. They (the boys and girls) are from the U.S.
