It has been reported favorably without objection from the House Health and Welfare Committee, the Senate Commerce and Senate Finance Committees. It has passed both the full House and Senate and now goes to the Governor for his consideration. None of this would have been possible without YOUR support. Several amendments were adopted, with the support of the LSMS, that bolster the intent of the legislation including mandating a review process by the LSBME Board before a formal investigation can move forward, requiring a burden of proof (preponderance of evidence) for prosecution of a complaint, and creating an appropriate separation of powers by precluding the executive director from also serving as the lead investigator on a case. For more information on the final version of the bill please click here . We need your help one last time as we continue to push HB 843 along in the process to become law. Please ask Governor Bobby Jindal to support Louisiana's physicians and sign HB 843. Take Action!
