Chapter 1: God Made MeIn this lesson, the children learned that God made them and that they are precious in God’s sight. They heard that they are special and can do wonderful things. Your child made a star-shaped name tag because we are like stars shining for God when we try to do our best.

Your ChildChildren’s self-concepts are formed primarily in the home. Ask your child to tell how he or she is special and demonstrate one of his or her gifts. Praise your child often, giving specifi c feedback about his or her special talents.

PrayGod, help us always remember that we are your precious children.

Do• Tell your child why he or she is special to you. • � ink of a particular talent your child has and

You may have to go to an unlighted spot to see them well. Talk with your child about how you can both be shining stars for God.

• Pray with your child, thanking God for your child’s special gifts as well as for his or her eyes, ears, nose, arms, and legs.

A Kitten’s Tale

Kitty Cat and brother Tom came home one day from school.

Mr. Cat was cooking. Mom was working with a tool.“Oh, no!” meowed poor Kitty Cat. “It seems I’ve lost

a mitten.”Her whiskers twitched. Her eyes fi lled up. She cried.

Poor little kitten.

So a mitten for her kitten Mother sat and knit.When Kitty tried it on, she found it was a PURRfect fi t.“Oh, thank you, Mom,” she said at once, giving her

a hug.

Then ready for a catnap, Kitty curled up on the rug.

They looked all through the rag bag and found one that was too old.

Chapter 2: God Made My FamilyIn this lesson, the children learned that God gave them families. Families vary—some are large, some small; some have just one parent; some include grandparents. Family members try to help one another. Your child made a picture as a gift for your family. Display it in a prominent place. Ask your child to name the people in the picture on this page.

Your ChildChildren need to know about their family background. Tell your child stories about yourself and other relatives, including grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Chapter 4: God Made My HelpersIn this lesson, the children learned about many people who help them. They were guided to obey these helpers. Chapter 5: God Made My Church FamilyIn this lesson, the children learned that the Church is God’s family and that every member is important. They heard that the Church family is made up of followers of God’s Son, Jesus, and that priests are men who accept God the Father’s call to serve and guide the Church. The children also learned that Mary is Jesus’ mother and the Mother of the Church. Ask your child to describe the photo frame he or she made.
