GTi amplifiers are the first car audioamps to use Crown’s Balanced CurrentAmplification (BCA) circuitry. • Anodized-aluminium woofer cones –This material moves the first breakupmode to a high frequency well abovethe crossover region. The benefits aresignificantly reduced distortion in thesystem’s output at high frequencies andmaximum midrange clarity.

JBL Differential Drive Design is animportant advancement in subwoofermotor technology. This new designenables each GTi subwoofer to use apair of smaller and lighter 76mm (3")-diameter voice coils. This dual-coilconfiguration provides significantlyhigher power handling throughincreased surface area, and maintainsthe low-moving mass not possible withlarger coils.

• Kevlar®-impregnated paper woofercones – This combination has beenchosen for its high strength-to-weight ratio, and is formed using aproprietary manufacturing process. • Parallel/bridge – Unlike conventionalmono subwoofer amplifiers whichonly deliver their maximum power intoa single impedance, the BPx1100.1and BPx2200.1 are two-channelamplifiers that can be bridged todeliver double the voltage of a singlechannel into impedances between 2and 4 ohms. The two channels canalso be connected in parallel – that’sright, parallel – to provide double the current of a single channel intoimpedances below 2 ohms. Thispatented* feature is unprecedentedin car audio amplification.

• Slope-selectable variable electroniccrossover – Each of these amplifiers is equipped with a variable electroniccrossover capable of a slope rate of12dB or 24dB per octave. Thecrossover adjustment range is from32Hz to 320Hz. This allows foroptimum system and subwoofertuning to a specific vehicle cabin.

• Dynamic Bass Optimization (DBO)circuit – This provides variable high-pass filtering with adjustable “Q”below 100Hz (far beyond conventional“Bass Q” circuits) by allowing thelow-frequency output to be optimizedfor specific subwoofer applications.Frequencies below an enclosure’s

• Proprietary frame – The frame in these subwoofers delivers the maximum excursion whilereducing the overall mountingdepth, facilitating broaderinstallation options. This designalso ensures that the motorstructure stays centered in thevoice coil gap, for long-termdurability and reliability.

• Hi-roll rubber surrounds – The size of the roll has beenoptimized to deliver themaximum cone area whileproviding excellent cone-edgesuspension and long-throwlinearity, with the proper amountof control and stability atexcursion limits.

• Progressive spider – Each GTO subwoofer features aprogressive spider, whichprovides better control atexcursion limits than a linearspider. The benefit is reduceddistortion at high output levels.

• Vented polepieces – Theseprovide additional cooling to themotor structure, resulting in anincrease in the subwoofer’sthermal power-handlingcapability.
