Let’s begin with the Car List. This display shows all active locations stored in Worldspan by the specified car associate, by city and/or airport code, and includes the location code and number.

This information can be used to display car details or car availability. City information stored in the location table varies by associate.

If you see an unfamiliar code, you can use this display to determine the location type.

Use these codes as a generic request for a type of location or combine them with the specific location code for one location only. Now that we have looked at the location codes, let’s use these in specific entries.

First, here are some formats.

The display includes line number, participant indicator, when applicable (AccessPlus = $, Source = #), car associate code, location code, location title, and street address. Looking at line 1, the location code is T01, the company is Budget, and the title is Los Angeles International, at 9775 Airport Blvd. Line 2 is location code C01, the Union Station - Los Angeles, at 800 North Alameda.

Let’s look at a full list of Budget locations.

It is in the rail station. A word of caution here, even though we find many locations using specific location type, it is best to check all location codes to search. All associates may not list, or choose to list the location by unique code. You may find your location with city locations, or with specific directional location (N, S, E, and W). Paris is also a popular vacation destination. We know there is a location at Marne La Vallee. Let’s check it out.

Once the location code is determined, more accurate availability and detail information can be determined with fewer keystrokes. Remember when looking by location type, not all associates categorize locations by type. Check all location types to assure a complete search for your location.

Things to remember about car rental locations: • The car companies assign the numerics in the location

codes. • The /L field allows a maximum of seven characters

(LAXT012). For locations not stored see: >INFO CR/PUP- • The location information prints on the Itinerary/Invoice. For

additional information, see INFO EZLCAR Before we move on, let’s look a little more at the car rental list. The CRL allows use of other availability options, such as date, arrival, drop-time, and location codes, and carry over of these codes to the availability display. The system allows a maximum of three associate codes and three location type codes in the entry. 25. Display a car rental list in San Francisco for the dates

Vehicle Type Codes Instructors’ Notes

When selling a car, vehicle type codes identify the vehicle type. The letters in a vehicle type code indicate specific information about the car (i.e., Class, Type, Shift, Air, Rate/Rule Variation Numeric, etc.).

The agent creates the vehicle type code from the list of options contained in the vehicle codes table. To create a vehicle, select one letter from each of the first four columns (e.g., ECAR). To simplify an availability display, options can be included in a request for a specific class or type. This lesson includes discussion of the following vehicle type options.

As mentioned, to create a vehicle type, the agent chooses one code from each of the first four columns. The last column is for a rate type, or variation, (ECAR would be variation 1) or remains blank if there is no variation to the rate. HELP VCODES, HELP MATRIX, and HELP CRTYPE also displays this table. To request a two-character vehicle use only the Class and Type of vehicle. The default includes air/non-air, automatic, and manual for requests for only Class and Type.

Use the Car Rental Guide (CRG) for decoding the vehicle type. Enter CRG/V followed by the vehicle type code (CRG/VSFMN).

In an availability request, it is possible to limit a request to a specific Class or vehicle Type or higher vehicle. An asterisk (*) indicates a search for the class specified or higher based on hierarchy from the Vehicle Type Table. For example, to request Intermediate class and higher, but include all vehicle types, request /VI*. Looking at the table, that request would include from Intermediate (I) through Special classes (X), and all car Types. If a Standard class and above, but only Cars as the Type is desired, the request would be /VSC*.

In just this first screen, we have Vans (V), Four Wheel Drive, and Convertible (T). Again, all Classes area included. Another easy search is for Vehicle Class. The asterisk (*) or wildcard indicates a search for the vehicle class requested or higher. A request for Intermediate class or higher would be /VC-I*.

Let’s look at this search. We want to look at only Intermediate class for the car rental in Denver. He is not particular about the Type, but definitely does not want Mini, Economy, or Compact.
