Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet tensile strength can be stable

for 10,000 hours with accelerated exposure test (it is

equivalent to 30 years natural exposure), providing :-

    a) It is used in strict accordance with the

    manufacturers recommendations.

    b) It is used within the design parameters stated in

    this datasheet.

Fosroc reserves the right to modify this time period,

depending on but not limited to, climatic, site and

environmental conditions such as chemical attack, abrasion,

water immersion and adverse climatic and temperature

conditions. Any FOSROC coating systems applied will achieve a

minimum of 10 years durability. Consult FOSROC Technical

    Services for further advice.

Method Carbon Fibre Reinforced Concrete Steel Jacket

Outline Carbon fibre sheet is bonded directly

    to concrete structure surface

    Concrete is placed on existing

    concrete surface to

    accommodate additionalreinforcement increasing cross

    section of existing concrete

    structure

    Steel plate is applied to

    concrete surface with resin

    and mechanical fixings

    Application &

    Characteristics

    Newer method

    Non corrosive and durable

    Especially effective to

    improve flexural capacity

    No appreciable increase in

    volume of structure (approx.

    1.0mm thick)

    Widely used method

    Overall dead load

    increases hence the

    sub structure must be

    checked to assess

    need for under pinning

    New reinforcement

    must be properly

    anchored to produce

    the desired effect

    Widely used method

    Steel plate tends to

    corrode if not

    maintained and

    requires periodic

    painting and repair

    Ease of work

    execution

    Easiest and safest to apply

Can be applied to any shape

    of concrete surface

    Requires no heavy

    machinery; so can be used

    in any space

    Rapid gain in structural

    strength

    Requires chipping

    concrete surface to be

    repaired

    Requires troublesome

    concrete placing

    Requires access for

    concrete placement

(e.g. truck) Slow gain in structural

    strength

    Difficult to use in

    confined spaces

    Requires access for

    a crane / hoisting

    machine

    Requires welding of

    steel plate joints

    Medium installationrate

    Application

The following is a generalized application method for

Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet which may vary according to

the specific application. Full details are found in the

Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet Method Statement.

    Method Statement

    1. Clean and make good the concrete surface.

Grinding and fairing may be required. Concrete

repair may be required. Consult Fosroc

Technical Services for the appropriate repair

    system.

    2. Apply Nitowrap SKPS Primer at a rate of 300

    gm/m 2.

    3. Apply Lokfix EP to fill anu voids.

    4. Apply first coat Nitowrap SKRS Resin at a rate of

    300 gm/m 2.

    5. Lay in Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet as specified

ensuring full impregnation by using impregnation

    roller.

    6. Apply second finishing coat of Nitowrap SKRS

    Resin at a rate of 300 gm/m 2.

    7. Leave the sheet for 24 hours until initial cure is

    reached.

    8. Coat exterior or exposed surfaces with

Deckguard S or fireproofing coating (if

    necessary).

If multiple layers are required, then repeat steps 5

    and 6.

    Packaging

Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet is supplied by linear metre.

Each roll is 500 mm wide x 100 meter length. Nitowrap

Carbon Fibre SKPS Primer and Nitowrap SKPS Resin is

    supplied in 15 kg pack.

    Limitation

Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet is only recommended for

uses as described in the uses section of this datasheet.

The performance of Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet is

limited to the specifications and recommendations as

    determined in the design manual.

    Overcoating

Nitowrap Carbon Fibre Sheet may be overcoated with one

of FOSROCs Architectural Finishes including Fosroc

Deckguard S. Consult Fosroc Technical Services for

    further advice.
