‘’I’m thrilled to have my first $0 bill… and I’m looking forward to my first cheque!’’

Barbara had PV solar system installed a few years ago and added another 1.5kW in early 2014. She was concerned that her panels were not performing well, as her bills were still around $500 per quarter.

carbonTRACK was installed at Barbara’s house in November 2014.

Using carbonTRACK, she:

• Within 24 hours discovered her peak output for the day was in line with the capacity of her panels and her PV system was performing well.

• Identified that without solar panels her bills would have been about $1000… so solar PV had effectively cut her bill in half.

• Considering her feed-in tariff was only 8c/kWh , carbonTRACK identified that Barbara could save an additional 10% by using her surplus solar energy during the day to power her pool pump instead of paying 17c/kWh to operate the pool pump at night

• Data also showed that the four fridges/freezer Barbara had running continuously were using a lot of power. She turned one of them off straight away in order to save more money and is considering downsizing further or upgrading to more efficient models

HAWTHORN CAFÉ Customer Type: BusinessLocation: Victoria

Café owner, Michael, approached carbonTRACK to see how he could reduce his high electricity bills. After the installation of carbonTRACK, three clear opportunities were identified to reduce electricity waste.

1. SeecarbonTRACK detected unnecessary after-hours heating and cycling of the café’s two hot water systems. By setting timers and temperature cycles, carbonTRACK was able to correct these inefficiencies and reduce electricity waste.

2. SwitchThe 3.4 kW coffee machine was often left on after-hours to avoid costs of heating the machine from cold. Simply switching the machine off at closing time and back on in the mornings helped to significantly reduce the café’s electricity use.

3. SavecarbonTRACK identified further opportunities to reduce wasted electricity:

• The food display fridge was left running over the weekend• The 2.0kW toaster and 2.5kW sandwich press were periodically left on for hours at a time

CT100iFor single phase mains and single phase solar inverter applications only.

The CT100i offers users monitoring and switching in their home or business to help to reduce electricity bills and improve energy efficiency.

The CT100i device can switch up to three bulk level circuits.

CT200iThe CT200i device has all the functions of CT100i as well as more current sensing ports and more reliable mobile communication.

The CT200i is suitable for three-phase mains and solar applications and is the only carbonTRACK product that can switch 64,000 individual electrical appliances enabled through satellite unitsthat will be made available 2016*.

ST100iThe ST100i optimises solar thermal hot water installations, by allowing users to control and program their solar hot water systems.

The ST100i unit can control up to two Geysers and one Solar Thermal Installation, and allows users to program timers and functions to reduce unnecessary heating for better energy efficiency.

Hardware and back-end communication for a total smart meter energy management solution.

SU100i

The ZigBee enabled Satellite Units give users control over specific appliances in homes and businesses.

They will pair with the CT200i to monitor and network of up to 64,000 electrical appliances remotely to integrate more appliances into the network of control for users.

Expected release 2015/2016

carbonTRACK will ultimately become a home automation

platform.

Hardware and technology will continue to develop over
