Individual Career PlanningDuring an individual session with an EAP professional, Cascade gathers information regarding where you are in your career, where you would like to be, your motivations, and skills. Cascade then assists in developing a career search strategy. Possible strategies include creating a contact list for networking and/or informational interviews, research on the internet, how to look for a “stop gap” job, sending resumes/applications on-line, using employment agencies and utilizing the employment department. Individual counseling services can be utilized face-to-face (locally), through Cascade’s on-line e-support services, or over the phone.

In-Depth Career Assessments and Consultation When not sure of what to do next, the two most used assessment tools are the Strong Interest Inventory and the MBTI. These can be completed locally either via hard copy or over the internet. If not local, the internet can be used where both the client and the career counselor can have access to the information. Once results from the assessments are received and a report generated, the client then receives a minimum of one hour of consultation. The consultation includes reviewing the results and discussing next steps.

Additional Services Available to EmployeesThese are customized to meet the employee’s unique needs. The employee receives individual career planning and in-depth career assessment and consultation.

Layoffs are usually hard on everyone in an organization; those leaving, those staying, those making the decisions and (if different) those who have to tell the employees they are being laid off. Cascade Centers EAP can help all involved at every step. We learn about your organization and create an approach for your employees that is most effective.

Consultation

On-site Supervisor Support

Pre-Layoff Cascade provides pre-layoff consultation to managers. The consultation includes a phone meeting with managers to facilitate discussions about the layoff plan, tips for communicating the decisions to the employees, and when and how to communicate and support those being laid off and those remaining. Also included are the Cascade EAP services which can be utilized through the different stages in the process.

Post-Layoff Post-layoff services include phone consultation with managers on dealing with change. We can facilitate a discussion for managers in the process of determining what and how to make changes with fewer people. We also work one on one with those employees who remain regarding their feelings of guilt, being overwhelmed, loss, and uncertainty.

*Both pre- and post-layoff services can be provided on-site for a fee.

These seminars are one hour in length and include a combination of lecture, discussion, exercises and handouts. Topics can be customized and expanded in length to meet your organizational needs. Fees may apply.

How to MotivateThis is an individualized approach. Learning about the team and the manager, this program works with the manager on how best to proceed to get the work done and to support and motivate staff.

Coping with Downsizing: Training for ManagersThis seminar is for managers with employees experiencing the effects of downsizing, reorganizing, or other organizational challenges. Managers will develop the skills to best navigate their team to be successful in this new environment.

Coping with ChangeThe changes that are associated with a layoff are many. Those changes can bring up different emotions and this seminar helps the participants understand what they may be going through and help them with each phase of transition.

Coping with Survivor GuiltNot losing your job can be a great relief but it can still leave a person with a myriad of emotional reactions. This session addresses the guilt of remaining, the stressors of having to do more with less and the possible loss of friends and colleagues.

Optimism in a Pessimistic EnvironmentDuring economic difficulties and layoffs can easily leave us fearful and perhaps cynical. However, how we cope with hard times can affect our productivity, our relationships and our health. This seminar presents ideas on how to help choose the attitude we want to have as we live through a rough time.

Job Search SkillsFor local companies, a three hour on-site training covering building a successful resume, networking and interviewing is available. However, your employees can receive this same information over the internet from their own computers and phone with a webinar.

Support Group during Hard TimesSometimes just having a place to go to talk about your concerns can be of help by knowing you are not alone in your feelings and by gaining tips from others on how to cope with difficult times.

Layoff and Change SupportCascade can help your employees with the emotional and psychological effects of losing their jobs. This is an on-site program which explores the stages of transition and how employees can help themselves through the process.

Career Development SeminarThis seminar begins by looking at what your strengths are and where you might use those strengths. Participants walk away with a list of their strengths, ideas on where they can use those skills and a list of names of people or companies to begin the research.
