Undecided? More than 60% of students change their major (many more than once). If you are undecided or are exploring your opons, a career staff member is here to help you assess your interests, skills, and values and how these might impact your career choice. Develop Your Resume No – its not too early. Your resume helps you maintain a record of your college accomplishments, serves as a great career planning tool and enables you to be prepared for internships or leadership posions. Drop-in hours are available each week to start your re- sume building process. Build Your Professional Skills Career Services events are designed to give you the professional development edge needed to pursue your goals. Industry Profes- sionals and staff present informaon on such topics as career op- ons, social media and your search, interviews, networking, and how to stand out as an applicant. Addionally, students can parci- pate in Career Pathway courses designed for each year of study. Make Connecons Parcipate in a Job Shadow Day, Professional Development Day, networking event, or ask to meet with an alumni mentor to gain informaon about your career field and to gain an insiders per- specve to help you put your career plans in acon. Explore and assess your interests, skills, and values and how these impact your career choices. Test

out options through classes, activities, employment, or meeting

with someone in your field of interest.

Envision your future direction and how you will reach your goals. Work with your faculty advisor,

mentor, and/or Career Services to discuss your plans for employment

or graduate school.

A Four Year Career Plan

Enact your post-graduate plans. Apply your professional skills to

seek employment, graduate school or service opportunities.

Gain experience and participate in Signature Learning Experiences

related to your interests. Explore opportunities on Jobs for Jays

and/or with your academic department.

Making The Most Of Your College Experience

Take time to explore the types of careers related to your interests and skills. Career Services can help you research options, take a career inventory, or connect with someone in your career field.

Develop a plan to reach your goals. Will you be going to graduate school or working after college? Talk to faculty, staff and mentors on steps you should be taking now.

Use your core elective classes to gain a broad range of communication, team, and problem-solving skills.

Get involved with groups on campus and look for ways to assume a leadership role or to lead a project – but don’t overcommit yourself.

Get to know your faculty and get their input on your strengths based on your experiences in class.

Develop strong technical capabilities and critical thinking skills and take classes that will help you prove these capabilities to employers.

Gain experience in your career field through research, internships, study abroad or volunteering.

Look for ways to serve.

Giving back through service opportunities allows you to gain new perspectives, apply what you are learning in class and enhance your ability to work with others.
