AN OPEN SPACE FOR OPEN MINDS.We are not your typical hotel-based conference center. The Carey Institute offers an inspiring, distraction-free venue where your best people

can get away to produce your best results – an open space for open minds.

A TRADITION OF EXCELLENCEHoused on a 100-acre historic country estate in the heart of a pristine nature preserve, the roots of the

Carey Institute go back to 1924 when Laura Talmage Huyck convened the Country Forums on Human

Relations at her home as a reaction to the carnage of World War I, engaging international participants to promote global understanding and peaceful conflict

resolution.

In 1963, The Institute on Man and Science was founded on our campus to explore advancements in space, science, peace, philosophy and medicine,

engaging important figures of the time such as Isaac Asimov and UN Secretary General U Thant.

In the past 50 years, our campus’ unique ability to inspire has attracted meetings, conferences and retreats held by some of the most noted public

figures of our time, including Andy Rooney, Hillary Clinton, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation.
