    Caribbean South Americas Location near the equator means that most of the region has warmtemperatures year-round. How ever, temperatures do vary with elevation.

    The Resources is: Rice,coffe,bananas ,and sugarcane. In addition, the region has other valuableResources such as: Oil,iron,ore and coal .Both Venezuela and Colombia

    The Chibcha culture covered their new rulers in gold dust. Then they took each ruler to a lake towash the gold off. As the new ruler washed,theChibacha threw gold and emerald objects into thewater.

    In about 1500 Spanish explorers arrived on the Caribbean coast of Shout America. The Span-iards wanted to expand Spains NEW EMPIRE. In doing so , the Spanish conquered the Chibchaand seized much of their

    Treasure .Soon after claiming land for themselves, the Spaniards founded a colony and citiesalong the Caribbean coast.

    In the late 1700S people in Central South America began struggling for Independence fromSpain.

    In1830 the republic dissolved ,and New Granada which included Colombia and Panama, wascreated.

    After independence two different groups of Colombia's debated over how Colombia should berun .

    1800S AND 19900S killed thousands. Part of the problem had to do with isolated people in oneregion from anode region

    Colombia is Caribbean South Americas most populous country. The national capital is Bogota

    a city located high in the Eastern Andes

    Most Colombia live in the fertile valleys and River basing among the mountain rangeswhere the climate is moderate and good for farming. Rivers such as the Cauca and Magda-lena.

    Colombia culture is an interesting mix of influences :

    Music.-Traditional African songs and dances on the Caribbean coast.

    Sports.-Soccer as well as a traditional the Chibcha ring toss game called tejo

    Civil War

    Civil war is a major problem in Colombia today. Many different groups have waged warwith each other and with Colombia's government .

    One of these groups is an army ofguerrillas or members of an irregular militaryforce .these guerrillas want to overthrow the government.

    The Guerrillas as well as other militant groups have forced farmers off their land andcaused thousands of Colombians to flee the country

    The countries of Guyana ,Suriname, and french .Guiana are together know as the Guiana's has a dense tropical rainforest cover much of this region witch lies east of Venezuela.

    Guayana

    Nearly all of Guyana's agricultural lands are located on the flat fertile plains along coast. Guyana's most important ag-ricultural products are rice and sugar. Guyana's population is diverse .About Half of its people are descend from peoplewho migrated to Guyana's from India. Most Guyanese today farm small plots of land or run small businesses.

    Suriname

    Like Guyana ,Suriname has a diverse population. The Countrys population includes South Asians ,Africans ChineseIndonesians and Creoles . People of mixed heritage.

    French Guianas 190,000 people live mostly in coastal areas. Other groups include Europeans and Asians and SouthAmerican Indians .The country depend heavily on imports for its food and energy
