PROFESSIONAL HIGHLIGHTS

Pioneered the first Postdoctoral Education Fellowship at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy in 2011. Seven education postdoctoral fellowships have now been awarded.

Conceptualized, designed and implemented two courses entitled: “Contemporary Communications in Healthcare” and “Contemporary and Applied Communications In Healthcare.” Due to high interest and demand, the enrollment capacity of undergraduate course, launched in 2013, was increased from thirty to sixty.

Honored with leadership, mentoring and teaching awards. Received first teaching award after first semester of teaching at Washington State University, College of Pharmacy.

Led the strategy, development and overall execution of a multifaceted sustainable infrastructure to increase access, mentor and educate the next generation of pharmacy leaders through the implementation of six high impact programmatic initiatives at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy: Leadership Academy, Mentoring Future Leaders in Pharmacy M-Flip, Leadership, Excellence, and Development Program LEAD, Carolina Pre-Pharmacy Club, Recruitment Ambassadors Program RAP, the Pharmacy College Admissions Test PCAT Reviews, and the development of trendsetting marketing materials.

Recognized for role as WRAL-TV Health Team Pharmacist in Raleigh NC for three consecutive years with three media awards.

Designed and introduced Curricular Cross-Cultural Communication Modules at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy to teach students how to optimize patient care.

Established interviewer training and a standardized application review process to guide admissions processes and decisions while serving as Admissions Committee Chair.

Developed a web-based training tool to enhance pedagogical methods and engagement for faculty teaching in video-teleconferencing educational environments.

Coached and mentored an average of 50 undergraduate, professional and graduate students and wrote 30-60 letters of recommendation on an annual basis for students seeking internships and postdoctoral training opportunities.

Launched the Enhanced Pharmaceutical Care Centers with Kerr Drug along with faculty in the Pharmaceutical Care Skills Labs to increase access to health and wellness in North Carolina.

Increased the educational and professional development opportunities for Doctor of Pharmacy Students based at the UNC Eshelman School of Pharmacy, Elizabeth City Satellite Campus through the development of research opportunities, teaching assistant positions, discussion forums, networking events, clinical activities, and a seminar series.
