High School Placement for 2020.

It is mandatory for every child to bring back a completed form by Monday 18 March 2019. Please read the guide at the front of

the form before completing it. Ensure that you bring back the whole package and do not detach any of the pages. Fill out the

forms carefully as there are no spare copies. To ensure that you make the best possible choices for your child, most schools are

currently holding open days or alternatively, you can visit the websites of the local high schools to find the school that best

caters for your child’s needs. If you have any questions, you can arrange a meeting with your child’s class teacher who will be

happy to be of assistance.

Reminders

Road Safety: It is very important to please use the pedestrian crossings when walking across the road before and after school. Our school is a very busy place during these peak times and it would be a tragedy to have one of our students or parents seriously hurt because they have been reckless and unsafe.

It is school photograph time!

The 2018 school photographs will be taken at Carlton Public School in Week 11 on Tuesday, 9 April, and Wednesday, 10 April,

2019. Notes have been sent out with all details and how to purchase online. No money will be collected at school. Any enquiries

can be directed to our office staff on 9587 3717

Many thanks for your support.

Regards Stephen Vrachas Principal

THREE WAY INTERVIEWS- Are on in Week 10 and Week 11! In response to the parent surveys to improve communication across the school we are continuing with our “3 Way Interviews” at

the end of Term One. These interviews are intended to be much more informal than the mid-year interviews that focus on

student reports, data and student achievement. The central purpose of the 3 Way interviews is to have a conversation with your

child and their teacher. These meetings are an excellent opportunity to involve parents, class teacher and student to discuss

progress, set goals and outcomes and the overall learning of your child so far this year. These meetings will be of 10 minutes

duration and we ask that you be very mindful of this. We will send out a preparation sheet prior to the interviews so that you

may discuss your child’s areas of strengths/ weakness, short term and long term goals. It’s important the student is involved in

the conversation as much as possible.

At 9am, Monday 25 March, interview bookings will go online.

Go to www.schoolinterviews.com.au enter the code kpmt3, click Go, enter your details, select your child’s teachers, choose from the available times and click to book them. Once you’re finished you will receive an email confirmation of the day and times for your interviews. Please be certain you finish all the steps. If you do not receive an email confirming your times then redo the process or call Miss Morrison for more information.

Pedlar’s Parade On Thursday 11 April, all students in Kindergarten, Year 1 and Year 2 will be participating in Carlton Public School’s Annual Pedlars’ Parade. The parade will begin at 11.45am and all family and friends are invited to watch the festivities. On the day, the children need to bring items to sell on a tray which will be paraded for all the K-2 students to see. Trays can be placed in your child’s classroom before school on Wednesday. Items which are suitable to sell are pencils and erasers, clean old toys such as McDonald’s toys, stickers or stamps and cooked items. Cooked items should be nut free and have a label on the box stating ingredients. If you are unsure how to make your tray, please see your class teacher. We need parent support to assist with selling on the day. If you can spare a few hours to help with selling, please see your class teacher or email the office on [email protected] Remember to send your child with a few dollars to buy goodies from other trays. If your child has a food allergy, please try to assist them by being at school to help with their purchases. Students in Years 3-6 will have an opportunity to buy from the trays during lunch. If have any queries, please speak to Mrs Milner, Miss Stergiou or Mrs Murchie. We look forward to seeing you there. Mrs Milner

CPS- LIBRARY NEWS In 2019 we will be encouraging CPS students to participate in the Premier’s Reading Challenge. We will allocate times during our Library lessons to help students log on and record their PRC books. Congratulations to the 306 amazing CPS readers who completed the 2018 Premier's Reading Challenge last year. Our School Library is a great supporter of the Premier’s Reading Challenge. The Library has a specialised Premier’s Reading Challenge location which houses many PRC booklist titles and is constantly being updated. Also students can use the Library computers during lessons and at lunchtimes to browse PRC lists and books available through our library system OLIVER and their ORBIT accounts. Students will be provided with further information during their class Library lessons.

Welcome to the 2019 NSW Premier's Reading Challenge The PRC aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students and enable them to experience quality literature. It is not a competition but a challenge to each student to read, to read more and to read more widely.
