Message from our Chairman: I hope you had a wonderful holiday. What a fun Luncheon Carmen had this year. Our Chapter took in $1070 on the Big Christmas Basket Raffle along with our baskets and tickets we brought in over $1500. Great work ladies!! Thank all of you for selling so many tickets. . Thank you again Jackie and Michela for underwriting our wonderful Holiday Singers. Joan and Diana you did a wonderful job setting up our luncheon. It was delicious. Thank you Alex and Gayle for the ticket do-nations and to Darleen for making all those beautiful baskets and working so hard to sell tickets.

Congratulations Michela for winning the “BIG CHRISTMAS BASKET” . The New Year is almost here. And with it, some wonderful exciting get-togethers planned for our Chapter. Pot luck and Bingo in January at my house. Then a trip to Africa with Gayle at her home in February. I have been working with the committee on the West Area chapters big fundraiser March 2nd. Marti Gras Mark your calendar for a night of fun and music. We will have a Dixieland Jazz band this year along with wonderful food and fun. Darleen is also planning a spring trip for us to the Ronald Regan library in Yorba Linda, and we are working on a trip to a glass factory where we can make paperweights and garden globes.. And don’t forget to start getting your books together to bring to Darleen for our Trash to Treas-ures at Loretta's’ home in May, along with our Cinco De Mayo Luncheon. Always a favorite!! After the Holiday luncheon Sally Adams packed and went to San Carlos. She is waiting for her daughter to fly into San Francisco for some Mom and Daughter Pre Christmas get away time together. Off to Napa for Spa and wine tasting weekend. Last year they did Chicago and The Nutcracker with Joffrey Ballet.

Diana Hardy and her husband, Derek, are off to Delhi, India the last week January to attend a tradi-tional Indian wedding. Five days of celebrating...the groom comes riding in on a white stallion, the bride on an elephant, Diana in a traditional Sari for the main event, the Henna Party where attendees get hennaed, all sorts of celebratory events leading up to THE DAY! While in Delhi, they plan to take in its sights and sounds with some day trips to see the Taj Mahal and other important heritage sites. Since they are going so far, Diana has also set up a trip to Nepal where their time will be spent seeing all kinds of UNESCO listed places and enjoying the spirituality and character of the Nepalese people. Stay tuned for her report back - Oh, the places you'll go and see!!!

Pat Faust is ringing in the New year at a wedding for her nephew in Woodland Hills with all the family.

United Scrip has been in business for almost 20 years and does business with many non-profits throughout our country. Some of you have already experienced their effi-ciency - the competent manner which this company has dealt with us in both expedited set up of our account and a Christmas test order has underscored the high marks Diana Hardy's step-daughter's school gave them!

There are exciting opportunities to expand this program and Diana Hardy plans to explore many of them for the benefit of Carmen Chapter and the education programs of Segerstrom Center for the Arts.
