Middle School

Carnegie is committed to preparing middle school students for success in high school. We consider our middle school program to be the foundation for a student’s progression through the rest of their academic career. Therefore, we have structured our Carnegie Middle School as a college preparatory level school.

Students coming to Carnegie entering directly into the Traditional Experience program will complete coursework in English, Literature, Mathematics, Science, Social Science, Foreign Language, and Physical Education.

Advanced courses are offered as well as high school level courses for qualified students.

Space is extremely limited in our middle school programs therefore students must apply as soon as possible for consideration.

Application Advising

Carnegie provides application advising for all prospective students via scheduled skype or email. This helps ensure students collect all components of the application accurately.

Pre-Arrival Advising

Incoming students receive their schedules, testing, and arrival information four to six weeks before arrival. This helps ensure students fully understand their course load as well as any changes that may need to be made prior to arrival on campus.

Advising

The Carnegie International Team works with teachers and administration to keep you up to date on all important academic and recreational activities.

Orientation

Carnegie’s team holds an incoming student orientation one week before the start of school. Students engage in special sessions by grade level as well as participate in fun activities. This is an opportunity for students to meet other incoming students and to feel comfortable on campus.

Daily Support

The Carnegie team provides daily support for all students, including a special department specifically designed to aid international students. The advisors in this department aim to help students communicate with their teachers, administration, and their host families about day-to-day concerns. Specific language help is available with a scheduled appointment to assist students in their first language.

College and Career Counseling ProgramCarnegie’s College and Career Counseling program provides each student the individualized guidance he or she needs to succeed academically and find his or her best college fit. Academic and college-related information is also available.

Carnegie College Counselors work exclusively with students in the college application process to ensure their application is authentic and unique to each student’s educational background. Carnegie does not support the use of outside agencies. Tuition covers the cost of professional college counseling.

One-To-One Laptop ProgramCarnegie’s One-to-One Laptop program is a primary tool for enhancing engagement between students and teachers. The laptop is used in classes as diverse as physics and physical education. Students take advantage of their laptops to access real-time content, take notes and assessments, and utilize relevant applications.

Carnegie Technology ProgramCarnegie is a leader in the technology driven age of education. As such, we have a team to investigate the best technology tools for the classroom, provide training for our faculty and carefully plan for the use of these tools. Our goal is to implement technology that allows students to have a richer educational experience.
