If you want more of a challenge, head to Sleepy Hollow and Gilly’s Galactic Speedway. Ortman’s Way is a double track trail that is great for beginners. The locals say this is the best single track in Bruce County. The soil and gravel trails provide excellent riding conditions that are dry virtually all season long. Designed for mountain biking, this trail system is great for individuals picking up the sport or for the seasoned rider who enjoys some serious speed. A great trail to start on is Johnny’s Swamp of Doom which is located off the parking area. This trail has great flow with elevation changes that are guaranteed to get your heart going. If you feel that this trail is somewhat difficult, stay clear of Sleepy Hollow, My First Time or Gilly’s Galactic Speedway. Ortman’s Way is a double track trail which is suitable for beginners although you are guaranteed one steep climb and one long descent. Hunters must be aware that other trail activities take place here Hunters must obey county signs that prohibit or restrict hunting Most trails contain a natural surface unless it is marked as a white trail. White trails have a gravel or stone dust surface with little elevation change. Natural surface trails contain roots, potholes, rocks and uneven surfaces. The following provides a difficulty rating for mountain bikers. The ratings are relative to the levels of challenge found on other trails here. Even the “Easiest Trail” can provide a challenge for many riders. Always ride within your own level of ability and at your own risk. Challenging double or single-track trail containing slight turns and gentle climbs. Unavoidable obstacles such as bridges, boardwalks, roots, logs and potholes are present on trail.
