Principal’s Message
Dear Parents, It has been a busy October at Carrie Martin! We had our first two Caught Leading Assemblies, Student Led Conferences, Book Fair and a wonderful Halloween Parade. Our Caught Leading Assemblies will occur at the end of each month and we will celebrate students demonstrating leadership during each month. If your child is nominated, you will receive a post card and phone call from Nancy the week prior to the assembly. We also created a Carrie Martin Facebook page so please feel free to “like” the page! Facebook will allow us another way to share celebrations and announcements with the Carrie Martin Community. The Colorado Department of Education released new School Performance Frameworks for the first time since 2014. Since that time, Carrie Martin has improved academic achievement and growth across all subjects! This improvement has led to a new building designation of a performance plan; this is a step up from 2014’s improvement plan label. See our building data board right outside the school’s main office door for more specifics on this great news! Please join us in celebrating this academic growth. Remember to check with your child’s teacher, our volunteer coordinator, Ann Pakenham, or Nancy for volunteer opportunities. I encourage you to strengthen our partnership by spending some extra time at Carrie Martin! That is all for now! I hope everyone has a great November! Alex

Thank You to the Firestone Home Depot Team
The Firestone Home Depot team volunteered two days of their time to re-paint the map on the playground, which looks terrific! They were also able to do some interior painting. Thank you Firestone Home Depot employees.
Late, Late, Late!
PLEASE get your kids to school on time. The bell rings at 8:45 am. Tardiness has increased for many students. When students are tardy, they miss lunch count, instructions for the day, and it is a disruption to the class. We appreciate your efforts in arriving to school on time!
Art needs your help!
The 5th Graders are starting a project using recycled materials! We would love it if you could donate the contents of your junk drawer for our recycled artwork. We could use anything such as nuts and bolts, old silverware, tins, old tools, etc. Pretty much anything plastic and metal will be great! The sky is the limit. Just remember nothing sharp. Thank you! Miss Factor Art Teacher
Book Fair
Thanks to the volunteers who helped during the October Book Fair; we could not have done it without their help. Vicki Biddle Marsha Detter Dawn Dunham Carol Nichols
Also, thank you to everyone who bought items. A percentage of the total sales comes back to the library.

PTO NEWS
Santa Craft Fair The Santa Craft Fair will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, December 13-14. The holidays are approaching quickly and the Santa Craft Fair is one of the sponsored activities of the PTO. An informational flyer will be coming home regarding this. Parent/Teacher Conferences The PTO provided another delicious supper from Noodles & Company for the staff on Wednesday, October 12, during Parent/Teacher Conferences. Goodies for Grandparents Our Grandparent’s Day celebration is on Friday, November 18, from 8:00–8:30 a.m. The PTO is providing a continental breakfast. If your child does not have grandparents living nearby, invite a friend or another relative to join us. More details will be coming home. November 18 is also the kick-off date for our annual Giving Tree & Food Drive. More information will follow. Cash Donations NEEDED for Upcoming Food Drive PTO would appreciate receiving any donations of turkeys, cash or checks for our annual Christmas Holiday Food Baskets for the Carrie Martin Families needing a little extra help. Please let us know if you can purchase a turkey. If you are donating money so the PTO can purchase turkeys, please send cash or checks (made payable to the Carrie Martin PTO) to the school office. Thank you! 360 Fundraiser WOW – what a success!! The preliminary figures show that we made approximately $8,700. Great job, students! We had 60 students that qualified for a limo ride to the Berthoud Pizza Hut for lunch.
