• One of the oldest collections in WCPSS• Need a reinvigorated reading and library
program, with widespread use.•Perception that we no longer need libraries!

2013-14 • SOLUTIONS: first steps . . .
•New Magnet themes and•Magnet Grant (MSAP) application to support an upgrade of library (Sadly NOT Received in first round 2013-14)
• A Dynamic Library that supports reading, teaching and learning translates into achievement!
2013-14 • IMPROVED:
• DISPLAY ART and design (such as the hanging mobiles and rigging, numerous large objects…all from Ms. Deaton’s Art Collection)
• BOOK ORGANIZATION. Shifting books to create new spaces, interfiling reference, highlighting genres so it is easier to find for browsers, lots of home-made bookmarks, marketing materials etc.
• BOOK CIRCULATION and Class Use• Nearly DOUBLED circulation in 2013-14

•Spooky Reader’s Theater•Author Visit: Jacqualine Woodson•Holiday Gift books•Build a Heart Station at Valentines•Dr. Seuss Birthday hosting pre-school March•Poet’s Coffeehouse and Story Slam•Creativity Coffeehouse (collaboration with Mr. Verdin, the art teacher)•Book Bracketology for March Madness
