    1/1

    1) The major issue in the case is that the General Manager of the hotel broke

the law by trying to do the right thing when two elderly people were making a

scene in the lobby about not being allowed to enter their rooms. The hotel

then had to reimburse the family for their rooms and dinner to avoid a costly

lawsuit.2) probably would have acted in a similar manner to the General Manager.

was unaware that there was the law that he was breaking! so would have

tried to do the right thing by the guests. t is good to do the right thing! and

think in most cases the end result would have been a good one and not

unraveled the way that this situation unraveled. "owever! there is a security

concern by allowing the couple to enter the rooms without the permission of

the guests.#) found a case that went to court to not allow hotel sta$ to give police o%cers

access to your room without your permission. The case is&State v. Miller, 77

    Ohio App.3d 305, 602 N.E.2d 296 (8th Dist.1991), citingStoner v. California, 376 U.S.

    83, 8 S.!t. 889, 11 ".Ed.2d 856 (196). agree that the hotel sta$ should not be

allowed to let people into') do not think the attitude of the family would have been di$erent if it would

have been a lower level manager. slightly feel as though the situation was

set up! cannot think of any reasons why people would be upset that their

parents who had heart trouble the night before were let into their rooms.

think the family was looking to take advantage of the hotel and would have

acted the same way with a lower level manager.() n internal policy should be added to ensure that rooms that are reserved in

blocks are asked to provide the names of individuals that will be staying in

the rooms so that they know who to give access to. dditionally! they should

now make it a very strict policy to not allow anyone to enter rooms that they

are not assigned to! no matter the circumstances. also think in the future

the hotel should call the police if they have a guest acting the way that theolder couple was acting in the lobby.
