Case StudySummary Challenges
Castrol, worldwide producers and marketers of synthetic and conventional motor oil and lubricants, required a rush translation of appeal documents totaling over 23,500 words, from Dutch (Flemish) to English (US) for an ongoing court case.
The client requested 23,500 words with a turnaround of 4 working days.
Highly technical legal documents.
Some of the documents provided were scanned PDF’s, which made it more difficult for the translator to replicate the document format in the translation.
Solutions
ABBY Fine Reader, software with unmatched text recognition accuracy and conversion capabilities, was used to scan the PDF files and photos into searchable and editable format, allowing us to work with our Translation Memory tool.
Using our MemoQ Translation Memory tool, which identifies repetitions and matches with previous translations, meant that we were able to reduce turnaround for the client.
The translated files are then converted back to the original format, and another round of proofreading is applied, to make sure the conversion step did not cause mismatch with the source text.
