According to thehighestenvironmental,climate,andfirespecifications,alfanarDryTypeTransformersaremanufacturedaccordingtointernationalstandardIEC60076-11Edition2.02018-08.
• Climatic classes
Several climatic classes are defined in IEC 60076-11suchas:
- Class C1:Thetransformerissuitableforoperationat ambienttemperaturesabove-5°Cbutmaybeexposed during transportandstorage toambient temperatures downto-25°C
- Class C2: The transformer is suitable for operation, transportandstorageatambienttemperaturesdownto -25°C
- Class C3:Thetransformerissuitablefortransportand storageat-40°Candoperationat-25°C
- Class C4:Thetransformerissuitablefortransportand storageat-50°Candoperationat-40°C
- Class C5:Thetransformerissuitablefortransportand storageat-60°Candoperationat-50°C
• Environmental classes
Environmentalconditionsfordry-typetransformersareidentifiedintermsofhumidity,condensation,pollutionandambienttemperature
- Class E0:Nocondensationoccursonthetransformers andpollutionisnegligible.Thisiscommonlyachieved inaclean,dryindoorinstallation.
- Class E1:Occasional condensationcanoccuron the transformer (for example, when the transformer is de-energized).Limitedpollutionispossible.
- Class E2:Frequentcondensationorlightpollutionor combinationofboth
- Class E3:Frequentcondensationormediumpollution orcombinationofboth
- Class E4:Frequentcondensationorheavypollutionor combinationofboth

• Fire behaviour classesTwofirebehaviourclassesaredefined:
- Class F0:Thereisnospecialfirerisktoconsider.Except forthecharacteristicsinherentinthedesignofthetrans former, no special measures are taken to limit flamma bility.Nevertheless, theemissionoftoxicsubstancesand opaquesmokeshallbeminimized.
- Class F1:Transformerssubjecttoafirehazard.Restricted flammabilityisrequired.Theemissionoftoxicsubstances andopaquesmokesshallbeminimised.
D. Cooling code and classes of insulation For dry type transformers there are two types of coolingmethods: • Airnatural(AN) • Airforced(AF)
The main features of insulation are to provide dielectricstrengthandtobeabletowithstandcertainthermallimits.

F. AltitudeThe transformers are suitable for operation at altitudes of up to 1000m above sea level. Site altitudes above1000mrequiretheuseofspecialdesignsandshouldbementionedintheorder.

WindingsThe windings consist of current-carrying conductorswoundover thesectionsofcores.alfanar transformersaremadeofhigh-conductivitywindingsmadeofelectro-lyticcopperoraluminiumconductors.Inatransformer,therighttypeofwindingsisparticularlysignificantforspacesavingandminimizationofloadlosses.
