Cat Reman Short Blocks include a cylinder block, crankshaft,pistons, and connecting rods. Long Blocks are Short Blockswith a cylinder head, camshaft, timing gears, lifters, and oilcooler. Many Long Blocks also include an oil pump, waterpump, and other important components.

Cat Reman Short and Long Blocks are factoryremanufactured using only Caterpillar genuineparts. To provide same-as-new performanceand long life, blocks are completely disassembled,cleaned to meet rigid standards, and inspectedpart by part to ensure they meet our highestquality standards. They're upgraded withcritical design improvements, so you benefitfrom our latest technology. After assembly, allReman Short and Long Blocks are checkedelectronically to assure consistent quality.

• Blocks, crankshafts, and cylinder headsare 100% checked for cracks, erosion, orother damage which could cause failureif left undetected.

• Block and cylinder head faces areresurfaced to factory specifications forflatness and smoothness.

• Caterpillar 3100 and 3200 cylinder blocks aresleeved, finished to original standard sizespecifications, and checked for dimensionalaccuracy. New liners are used in 3300 and3400 cylinder blocks. These steps ensurecorrect seating of rings for excellent oilcontrol and engine performance.

• Crankshafts are reground and polished to meetoriginal profile and surface specifications.

• Exhaust valves, piston rings, bearings, seals,gaskets, and rubber products are replacedwith new Caterpillar parts, as are othercomponents–including blocks, cylinder headcastings, and crankshafts–that can't beremanufactured to Caterpillar specifications.

• All Reman cylinder heads are vacuum testedto assure correct valve seating and pressuretested for leaks before they leave the factory.
