Race Riposte: the competitor rubber!The Race Riposte rubber, the result of several years’ development in collaboration with the biggest Champions (Julien Absa-lon, Nicolas Vouilloz, etc.), places output and grip at the fore. The perfect alliance of the materials (specific synthetic rubbers, carbon-black and silica alloy) will enable you to beat the clock in complete safety.

Improved raises and outputThe «soft rubber/output» mix is generally difficult to combine. On-the-field test feedback from our riders and their concerns for detail have enabled us to closely examine the work of the tyres: grip, shock absorption, effort recovery, raise, abrasion, etc.Drawing on this analysis, our engineers have developed a novel rubber, capable of responding to the greatest of constraints to satisfy even the most demanding of riders. This alchemy offers a rubber that is softer, ideal for motivity, grip when diving in and out of turns, banked corners, rocky and wet portions... all the while optimising output and raises thanks to the controlled knob return.Already used in motor sport (moto GP, motocross, Formula 1, etc.), this technology is now available for MTB (an XC/Enduro version + DH version).

XC Hardskin: High-resistance nylon textile reinforcement vi-sible on the walls and effective beneath the tread. Avoids cuts to the walls and bearing.

Enduro Hardskin: High-density woven textile reinforcement positioned on the inside. Very effective against the cuts, tears and major impacts generated by this discipline.

DH Hardskin: Double frame (2X66 TPI), which strengthens then entire frame, from heels to tread. Multiplies the wall re-sistance by 2, and tread protection by 4. Also limits the pinch impact punctures that occur fairly frequently in DH. Tested and approved by our riders.

HOW DO I UNDERSTAND THE DIMENSIONS?

There are two distinct ways of measuring tires : the standardised dimensions and the ordinary dimensions.The dimensions standardised by ETRTO are expressed in millimetres (e.g. 23-622 – QUARTZ), and correspond to the width, and inside diameter (beads) of the tire. The ordinary dimensions are expressed in millimeters (e.g. 700x23 – QUARTZ) or in inches (e.g. 26x2.10 – BULLDOG) and correspond to the outside diameter (indicative value) then to the tire width. HUTCHINSON always displays the measurements using both systems.

WHAT IS ETRTO?

HUTCHINSON is a member of the European Tire and Rim Technical Organization, whose purpose is to unify the different tire measurement systems. For more infor-mation, go to www.etrto.org

WHAT IS A TIRE BEAD?

A tire bead is a bundle of copper, aramid or carbon wires that form the tire bead, which is the part of the tire that anchors it to the rim. Rigid beads (RB) are made of copper while flexible (i.e. folding) beads (FB) are made of aramid or carbon. Flexible folding beads reduce weight, increase puncture resistance and make it possible to fold the tire without damaging it.

WHAT IS A SKINWALL TIRE?

Skinwall technology (SKW) consists of placing a layer of rubber on the central section of the tire only, in order to form the tread. Prior to this, the sidewalls are covered with a very thin rubber coating. This technology reduces the tire’s weight and increases its flexibility, therefore improving its performance and comfort.

WHAT IS A GUMWALL TIRE?

Gumwall technology (GW) consists of placing a layer of rubber over the whole tire casing, from one bead to the other. In this way, the sidewalls are stiffened and protected from outside stresses. This technology improves the tire handling at high speed and increases resistance to sidewall perforation.

WHAT IS TPI (THREAD PER INCH)?

The density of the threads that make up a casing is measured in terms of the number of threads per inch. A 33 TPI casing uses a low density weave made up of thick threads imparting stiffness to the tire. In contrast, a 127 TPI casing uses a high density weave made up of extremely thin threads, providing the tire with flexibility.
